Hi all,

Either i or some of you have missed the point i don't think customer satisfaction has anything to do with what mobiles you have a choice of. But how happy you are with the device you bought and customer service afterwards which is not the same as what some of you are discussing.

Marc

However you fail to realize that customer satisfaction in a product means ALL the difference in the choices they have. If thousands of users are happy with the W810 (EDGE and quadband) and its functionality then their predestined to purchase its upgrade ... especially if many W810i users had destroyed or had their phone stolen - and replaced it with the SAME model because an upgrade was NOT available that retained and yet improved on a phone that they FULLY enjoy. The SE W610i is a successor to the W810i. Has the same things yet improves with M2 card standard support, A2DP, thinner more orange & black ...brighter screen yet STILL retains the 2MP camera with Auto Focus. Although in my example it failed in successful sales .... maybe in time or the its release was a little late.

We'll now see more K850i/z750i based chipset phones.

Also I think a MAJOR reason why SE has not expanded their UIQ phone lineup is that its still just fan based in Europe & China ... here in North America the Blackberry & MS Windows Mobile (Smartphone or Professional) is KING in the smartphone space.

@Dogmann

There is not enough info on 's performance in the original statement to comment on. That's why I said " are they P990 owners". AFAIK P990 is the only model people consistantly complain about. This however doesn't seem to stop you or many other whingers from picking on a company which has gone from strength to strength since its (recent) beginning and produced some of the most sought-after moble phones ever produced.

If you follow the article back to the source you''ll see it was posted to highlight Apples 'arrival' as a credible force in mobile phones. I've argued that is still to be proven. The article was never about in the first place.

I think the only reasons why Americans are so discontent is because of the lack of support for Sony Ericsson phones in the US. I mean, there are very few phones from SE that are targeted for the US market and even when that happens, the carriers there seem more enthusiastic about promoting the new Moto flip.

The US is stuck on old tech, love of gimmicks (think flips), and incompatibility with the rest of the world. If Moto can score higher than SE, there's something wrong (if you've ever compared a Moto UI to a SE UI).

Though, I have no idea why SE can't just stick in some more US phones - it's only a matter of changing the antenna!

SE don't cater as well as they could to the US market. However as much as I like SE handsets and UI, their after sales support is not that great. Part of the problem is Sony Ericsson service centres are just mobile phone repairers contracted by SE to do their repairs; more like a franchise than an actual SE trained repairer.

So whether you get good support or not depends on the service centre.

Whenever I have had to speak direct to SE though I've found them accomodating and useful, but since I've never had any major problems with my SE handsets I've rarely needed to talk to SE. I guess you could call me a satisfied customer, though maybe if I'd owned a P990 I wouldn't be so happy

My 8 year litlle brother knows more about phones than this clowns.
That always happen to me. while inquiring about a specific service at a local "Dumb" telecom wireless center like how to connect SE phone as modem to a PC, they don't even know a single damn about it. i hope next time, they hire more knowledgable people, not like those dumb-asses.

SE is not interested to establish in US as they are still strugling to get it right in Europe. Maybe you have to realize that making phones esp for US and to have some market share over there, you have to invest MONEY. That's why you don't have SE

Very Agree with that. US loves to invest on guns, radars, and more in it's military aspect but not on communications for example philippines now enjoy 3G and HSDPA networks while US are still EDGEs awayyyyy

Let's not go down that road ok?.... That could get ugly real quick... back to the topic on hand, I personally am not happy with Sony Ericsson and I live in the US! For me, not having the 850 frequency or Edge on a phone is just not that big of a deal. Don't get me wrong, Edge support would be nice since I use Tmobile's service, however I do just fine with GPRS (though a phone with WiFi support would be nice, like the W960i, too bad it doesn't have WiFi G...). I also don't have a lot of trouble getting reception with only three frequencies here in LA, so hence my complacency with Sony Ericcson's choice to only support 3 frequencies. What I'm not happy about however, are all of the low to mid range offering we only get here! The range and most of the high end phones I crave (all exclusively offered in Europe) and want are never officially released here, thus denying US buyers warranty support! I had a K800i, before my current W850, that I had to send ALL THE WAY TO EUROPE FOR SERVICE! It was a little over a month before I got my replacement phone! Disgusting! Who says I'm happy with Moto? I hate everything about Motos! Why not give us any choice Sony Ericsson?... Who decided for us in the US at Sony Ericsson that we only get old busted tech?... Maybe that's why people are so disatisfied with Sony Ericsson in the US to begin with?.... Maybe Americans are to dumb to understand the newest tech?.....
