Also i have phoned the telephone number which indeed is a Police Station phone number and they have confirmed both the person in the post exists and that he holds the position stated.
Furthermore they also confirmed to me that the Scam is real and that they are circulating the information to stop people being caught out by it. I was also told i was quite right to check if unsure of it's authenticity.
Which leads me to assume the only reason you would like to suggest it's a hoax is you are part of the Scam maybe? care to comment now?

I also have heard about this years and years ago, still I've 'been accused of being part of this "scam" , only because I've been the first one, to post it's a hoax.
