Hey guys, I'm a N73ME owner, could anyone provide me with the settings so I can video call too?, btw i do have that vision thing (10$/month) for videocalling, i just don't know how to set up my phone.

hey Alex_B my friend has the exact same handset as you do (black n73 ME edition) and his video calling doesn't work with rogers. unfortunately the n73 ME can't pick up 3g from rogers.

These are the settings i was given by rogers. From what i know, n73 can make video calls and use 3g on 2100 MGhz which is only offered in europe. rogers uses 850 and 1900 3g. correct me if im wrong.

good luck

Thanks a lot, i'll be working with the settings, as soon as I get something i'll let you know, so u'll be able to pass it over to ur friend. regarding the "rogers official info" it's true, according to what they are saying they have their 3g set up on 850MHz. But the thing is with smart phones, u can change it in SIP settings, basically u can force your phone to use 3g on any available carrier, 850, 900, 100, 1900, by default UMTS is set to 2100 MHz, but there is the way to change it.

ill keep ya'll posted

PS thanks again.

@Alex; you REALLY NEED to READ what you're gonna purchase BEFORE purchasing. N73 & the new N82 use the 2100Mhz UMTS (or 3G/3.5G respectively). Because here in North & South America we use the 850/1900Mhz bands (newly T-Mobile USA using the 1700/2100Mhz for 3G is upcoming - NOTE: the 2100Mhz is a different modulation and thus European/Asian 3G phones will NOT work) 3G in your N73 is useless. Added weight. Remember 850Mhz is a ROUNDED number NOT the actual frequency the phones & towers communicate with.

it wont work simply bcz rogers use HSDA rather than HSPDA you need a dual 3g band such as the new samsung, im havin the same issue with both my k850 n k800

This coming from someone in Kuwait, lol.
Did you know Rogers began with TDMA> GSM (both supported)> EDGE (phased out TDMA) > HSDPA for 1yr then now to HSUPA? I know ppl in Rogers that have tested & helped BUILT towers and nodes for HSDPA+HSUPA; I myself tested teh GSM network back in 2001.

looool, after downloading the settings from sony ericssons website, i tried it again with my friends n73... and it didn't work. So at this point im thinking maybe its not my phone, maybe its the n73 (my friend never got it to work either) so i went to Rogers store and tested it with one of the Rogers Vision phones,,,, and guess what.... k850 was handling video calling even smoother than vision phone. You should have seen the smile on my face and the confused look on the dudes face. He thought only rogers vision phones can handle video calling.

k850 works fine.. you don't even need to put in settings..
you need to call 3g to 3g... n73 does not have 3g..

call a samsung vision phone... or a tytn or a n95-3

I don't know much of the K850i & the "H" symbol, but the HSDPA is UMTS on steriods for downloads. Rogers does support 3.6Mbps as does the K850i. Rogers also supports the HSUPA for Uploads of 1.8Mbps .

Currently only PC / PCI-Express cards support HSUPA and also the TyTN II.

yeaa just saw that at rogers store, my friend who just recently got a job at rogers said that the staff already have their hands on the phone to learn the features so when they sell it to people, they know what they are talking about.

its gonna be 199$ with the vision plan and 299$ without. Iwould love to see what firmware version they will be launched with.
