It's incredible that in spite of how hard the Opera people worked for this 8.65 great Opera Mobile browser, most of the people with Symbian still use Opera MinI! That's for non-Symbian handsets...

Nope, it's for any handset which supports Java.
It's light, faster and more economic due to resizing and is therefore definitely the better choice, especially on low bandwidth connections (gprs, edge).
But it isn't recommended for secure transactions and other activitiies where transmission of sensitive information is required, since all information is being decrypted and reencrypted at Opera servers.

I mean it was made with non-Symbian users in mind(maybe not excluding them) and aimed at Java handset users.But it's qurky and that messages are always popping up.

If the permission request at startup is what you mean with pop-ups, get the multi certificate version via your phones web browser, select 'allow and don't ask again' at initial start and you'll never be asked again..
If by mistake you should select anything else, you can still change it in the midlet permissions.

So overral, fring is a very good app.
Yeah, it might perform its own functions very well, but compatibility with the phone and its built-in applications is my primary concern & main deciding factor when I choose a 3rd party app.
And that's why 'fring' has always failed to meet my expectations, since any version I've tried renders the built-in 'storage wizard' of UIQ3 phones useless, even the latest version, 3.30.
Therefore I've decided to stay away from it, as for me it doesn't matter how often, if at all, I would use the storage wizard. It's the fact that I can't deliberately install an app which has 'side effects' like that.
Things could be different if there wouldn't be any alternatives, but fortunately, this is not the case.
I'm quite satisfied with IM+.
It's not free but well worth the bucks.

most people have not answered what was requested:
it has to be free apps;
it has to be native UIQ3 apps (no java included)
