Petitions and protests never work, but then again neither do vandalism and violence.
Country-wide General strikes and the withholding of taxes do. But the population of this country have become far too weak, segregated and selfish for such action to be realistically achievable any more.
It's a shame really...

Absolutely! Why not? It wasn't all that long ago that Maggie Thatcher was forced to scrap the poll tax, largely due to people refusing to pay it.
We ought to be refusing to pay taxes until MP's salaries and expense accounts are cut to a reasonable level, with the revenue freed-up being ploughed into public services.
Then they'd have to do something!

people here in Uk laugh at the french for striking, maybee we should do the same here and our govt will listen. thing is all we do here moan and graon and then pay up. regarding the anarchy at the city, i must say the roads were clear, passed throgh kings cross to angel on the road and very good traffic situation, less cars and jams
