Cleanly installed version of XP works great with my P800 but still not getting my main system to work even with previous stuff removed. Looks time for me to do a complete OS cleanup

Tried on my Home PC to no avail, it does seem to be something to do with sharing the USB connection. I disabled my Speedtouch connection and got better results. Now CAPMAN.exe blows away large style.
I have updated my speedtouch drivers still doesn't help.
Do any of you guys use NAV, I have a sneaky suspicion this could be the rouge element but I cannot confirm this yet.
I did create a new user (with nothing in startup) and this worked 1st time.
The plot thickens

im gettin problems with sync of the phone, most of hte time it works, but sometimes it doesnt like it.
it also doesnt charge when its on the cradle, i have to use the separate charger, so cannot transfer and charge at the same time. theres an option that allows u to charge, so i selected the phone and clicked ok like it told me to, but still no charge!!!
ne1 know why not??

Sounds like a dodgy cradle to me, no charging and erratic sync problems, could be a dodgy connection. Mine charges fine in the cradle although direct charge from the USB port would have been good.

Just experienced my very first "Press Power button for 10-secs." last night. I put the DUO stick while the phone was in the USB stand and connected to the PC. Suddenly PC couldn't detect my phone anymore (even after multiple removal and re-attachment to the base)! I removed it from the base, removed the DUO, and turned it on. It booted up and then displayed a very scary message (for me, at least) - "Reinsert disk or data may be lost". The touch screen was not working at this time. I did nothing and after awhile the message faded and my P800 started as normal. Then the "soft reset" message popped-up and so I pressed the Power button for 10 secs. After that it continued normally and when I re-attached it to the base, it was detected instantly again! Woohoooo! It seems nothing was deleted or broken by that incident... its now working perfectly again although I dont know what the cause of this incident was.
Was it my insertion of the DUO while it was still connected? Is that bad?

Capman.exe is what actually runs when you connect to a symbian device.
I have sort of good news. I have a non working PC at work, USB cable connection no joy at all. However I had teh software working on an identical machine no problems (except Lotus Notes, I'll come back to this one). without any other changes I installed my TDK Bluetooth adaptor on my non working PC and pointed COM 5 at the P800. As expected all worked, I changed the phone properties on the SE com link to COM 5 and I synced via Bluetooh straight away.
Therefore please ignore any stuff about NAV it is defenatelty to do with the cradle and USB sharing the USB BUS with other devices. I will try and complete some more testing tonight/Tomorrow.
On the Lotus notes front if anyt one is using notes for sync then you will need to ensure that your Notes.INI is located in the c:\winnt directory and the program directory location, else it will not allow the conduit

sync didnt work so i did the following
1.uninstall all t68 software.
2.delete the mobile phone monitor dir
3.plug in cradle - install comm.suite from SE website
4.fuck off Norton Firewall!!! 5.control panel>phone monitor options - enable and reserve the COM port ure cradle is connected to
6.put fone in cradle and wait for connection. fone is detected by MPM
Ive got WinXP.. no service packs. hope this helps....

yeah one thing u gotta do is disable ur firewall, coz mine crashes even if u allow the program full access with my firewall (McAfee). Also mine's still not working 100% of the time, it'll work for 10-15mins of downloading and installing stuff, then suddenly flash up an error and i'll have to reboot my pc to get it working again
