I guess that it's possible to make a bit clearer matt-glass display than in the past. So the pictures and other info in display won't turn notably blurry.

Some years have passed by when I start this topic, but glossiness of phones is going more and more popular. I don't understand, what do SE and other phone makers think? Wy should phones be so damned glossy - finger prints and grease magnet!?
And the other, main question: why SonyEricsson does not make matt-glass displays anymore like they used to do it many years ago? As we all know, especially the phone display has a bad habit to turn greasy. But with matt-glass displays there is not such a problem. Also that matt-glass is much more "scratch-proof" than the ordinary glossy-glass display.
I have one really old Ericsson (GH 174) - but the matt-glass of display looks like new!
And by the way, there are also many computers nowadays which screen is made with matt-glass - and I see no transparent problems. So, why all screen of mobile phones must be so damned glossy!?

The S700 screen was made from a special mineral glass that was scratch resistant. The K700 screen was made from polycarbonate plastic which is also scratch resistant to a degree, but nowhere near the resistance of the mineral glass used on the S700 (and the T650 I think).
Its the S700-type screen that they should be using on our phones, although we'd be paying a higher price for them if they did!

While I can't speak for its scratch resistance (though mines is still flawless so far without any kind of screen protector), it DOES do a very good job at resisting smudges and skin oils. I'm not saying they suddenly disappear, but somehow its hardly noticeable when the screen turns on.

I don't talk only about scratches. I also mean that glossy display turns really ugly with grease.

I can't stand greasy fingerprints on my screen. I think nowaday they have definately moved to more glossy screens becuase of fashion and probably cost.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's because of fashion.. But at least they should offer some different choices too. Why not to make some mobile phones with matt-glass displayes and see the reaction of customers.
