In the UK I'm reliably informed its IMPOSSIBLE to buy anything to clone a SIM card as we use some very difficult to crack security, which might tie in with the earlier post about 128bit encryption.

A friend of mine that worked at SE in the UK told me it was impossible and there was nothing they'd ever seen that could do it.

I'm on Orange and desperately want a cloned SIM so I can use the car kit in my new Mercedes (which came with a crap Nokia 6310i) and then use my P900 out and about.

I'm sure Orange has twin SIMs available? Orangeman, can you confirm this? We did in Orange Switzerland when I left in feb 2003, i'm pretty sure the UK has it too...now, do you wanna pay for the service would be another issue Even if I was (which I'm not) willing to pay a monthly fee for it, it's just not available here...

In relation to Vodafone, they have a service called MULTI-SIM for £7 per month per extra sim-card, and basically you enter a code into whichever handset you are using to make it the active fone and this becomes the only handset that will receive/send mail or calls, you can also using one handset enter a code and make the other handset active instead (handy if you misplace the other fone). I think you can have about 7 extra sim-cards for one mobile number in this way, at £7 per card.

THE PROBLEM:

Multi-sim will not function with GPRS services, so basically you cannot surf, email or send MMS from any fone that is multi-sim enabled (or receive)!!!!

Voda are the only uk net to offer this to my knowledge.
It has been suggested many times it would be a great benefit to every customer.

Orange UK do not have multi sims........... yet.

@orangeman,

I must say I'm quite surprised...I would've thought the British division would be the same or close to the Swiss part...I mean, when I left, we had had Twin SIMs for about 6 months...it wasnt everyday that people called about them or that I would have to activate one, but they were there. I did screw up once lol

I bought a Sim Doctor / Super Sim and it didn't work with any of my 3 Australian sims. One sim won't read any more and the other 2 just won't copy.

I bought a copy of my SIM from my provider (Orange).

Basically, it was a onetime fee and both phones ring at the same time (I use it for my car phone, so I can keep the good phone turned off while driving).

The only problem is that it has its own number for SMSs - it does not receive SMS messages sent to my regular number, and the origin number when sending SMSs is different than my regular number.

Seems they gave u a SIM with another number and just activated simultaneous forwarding from u'r account into that (hence both get the call but when originating a SMS, the new one shows its own number). I guess so

I think if you can your SIM once, then you can copy it more than once - being able to produce multi-multiple copies. Why would anybody do that? Well, your guess is as good as mine. I think the service operators dont have suitable software to handle such instances multiSIMs. so they will try everything to make it as much difficult as possible to copy SIM data. And, they will issue a copy themselves charging fees and controlling it.
Having said so, i will be much relieved with a working copy myself. if its about COPYING; and not about understanding the data; then why is it not possible -always- to copy a SIM card?
