Ok, so the P800 can see infrared. It is true what people are saying about other cameras and camcorders being able to do this as well...BUT, many companies are now placing ifrared filters in front of their CCDs for picture quality reasons and I have even read that the Sony camcorders now are blocking their IR sensitivity because people were using them as heat cameras and looking through clothing, no lie. Just some photo trivia!

All CMOS and CCD cameras see infrared (this is a problem, in fact, when you're taking pictures in a hot environment).
Some cameras have Infra Red and UV filters to protect them from just this sort of thing.
However, there is no room on the P800 or P900 for such a protective lens, so the CMOS camera is open for business.
