> why is the t610 screen stn and not tft?

Thanks for the enlightenment re the difference between the tft and stn;active matrix vs passive matrix;etc.
Now we come to the most dreadful thought/scenario:in case a pixel died or an entire row/column went pffffffttttt!!! which is more difficult and expensive to repair??? TFT or STN screens????
Does it have to be that particular transistor for that particular pixel be replaced or the entire LCD???
Horrible,realistic and expensive scenario, isnt it??

Some answers to above:
* P800 has a TFT screen.
* Both STN and TFT are DC displays. the reason for the AC confusion is that to "turn off a pixel on TFT, you need to invert the signal for a TFT, whilst simply not providing a signal for STN.
* STN can display as many colours as a TFT screen, however, the colour "bleed" problem of STN displays does hamper it.
* Dead pixels are less likely on STN than TFT, though possible
* replacing a STN or LCD screen requires the same procudure labour wise, but STN are cheaper to produce.
However I cannot wait till OEL displays come to mobile phones. They hold better prospect than TFT's

OEL? Did you mean OLED and had a typo or is OEL something different? The Samsung GPRS wristwatch (due out towards the end of the year apparently) uses a colour OLED display. I'm interested to see how big the wristwatch actually looks in the flesh. It looks like it would be quite good in the gimmick stakes - colour screen, bluetooth etc. Being Samsung I won't be holding my breath on the battery life though!

I think samsung is the best when it comes to colour displays but when it comes to the battery dept.,it sucks.Have u noticed that most of their colord phones have 2 batteries(slim n xtended) in the sales package?!example is the samsung t100 n other clamshell siblings.

For the Samsung T100, the slim battery just for showing off. In actual use it won't last a day. Whenever I use the Samsung phones I feel like it's 1995 again, when it's normal to bring along a spare battery or two.

I don't see how it could be VGA (in the normal sense) since VGA is resolution 640x480 pixels.
