Hi,
I just got a T68i (fw:R6A012). Have they removed the battery status (in % or hours) in this version of the software? In status all I have the date and my profile.
The only battery status indicator I have is the tiny bar at the bottom right of the screen, it is hard to estimate anything better than +-20% from that. I have the origninal SE battery, at least it says it is SE
Any suggestions?

I don't think that anything is removed. You should wait a while after switching your phone ON. Battery info will be available in a couple of minutes, so when you turn your phone ON, wait 1 minute and then use the slider button to check again.

Donīt know if itīs just me, but since getting my 610 it goes like this:
After initial 16 hour charge as per recommendation from dealer - 3 days
second charge - 6 days
third charge 4 days ago and gauge is at 1/4 full right now,
= at least as good as my t68i was..
PS days=24 hours, all my phones are on 24/7

I don't know what difference that would make but most phone dealers I have dealt with hardly know anything about the phones they sell let alone have any technical battery knowledge. 16 hours use to be what they suggested for NiMh batteries and phone sellers just seem to keep saying the same old drivel without really knowing what they are talking about.
Me? I prefer to read the manual and do what they manufacturer says.

What he said was basically that a new battery doesnt reach 100% charge until cycled a few times. And what happens after the first 4 hours/ after the phone indicates fully charged is, as he explained it, like when filling up your car. When the pump shuts off, you can get 2-4 litres more in the tank by trickling it in little by little.
On the other hand, he also said that nowadays itīs not really that important as long as you let the charging cycle finish and not drain your battery completely *which is kinda hard anyway, as you have to either shortcut the battery or continuously switch phone on after it dies.. Now you can choose to believe this or not, i really couldnīt care less.
You do it your way and i do it mine, that way we can both be happy, right?

So actually you were doing as suggested by your Ericsson friend rather than what the dealer says (since you are more likely to listen to a friend who works for the company). Of course you didn't mention his expertise within Ericsson so his comment could be his own opinion too.
However, I fully agree with his concept of charging a few times to get best performance and not draining fully but my comment was more related to the initial charge which is clearly stated, presumably by people who have the technical knowledge to make the statement, that it should be 4 hours, and you have to assume they have a reason to say that.
Your final statement of "you do it your way and I'll do it mine" was not really neccessary as we are simply in discussion here and I did not intend to make any kind of personal attack to hurt your feelings of your choice of operation. I merely stated documented facts.

I always read the manual actually, but a (competent)friends advice do get higher priority. In this case, he has told me about putting phones in freezers and ovens and putting them under UV-lamps for the purpose of testing so itīs not like he was making coffee at SE
Maybe I should have made it more clear that it wasnīt really the dealers recommendation i went by, itīs just that it happened to be the same.

well when i got my phone i charged it for 4 hours. it has lasted me 2 days (well till the batt bar went inot the red) and thats playing games on it sending sms and phoning people. and BT is on constanly as i wanna see if theres any fellow bluejackers in solihull.

You are right! I was looking at the status with the charger on. When the charger is unplugged, it does show time left, after about a minute. Also I have a non-ericsson battery, which does not show any time.
For my T68i, standby time: 263 hrs (with BT off, IR off), 217 (BT on, IR off), 153 (BT off, IR on), 136 (both on). If BT is on auto, the reduction is very small.
