I bought my t610 on an o2 contract so already unlocked with all the SE stuff in place, and use my t-mobile sim in it, simple. This message was posted from a T68i

gareth,

I did not buy it straight from SE for two main reasons:
- first and foremost, it was not out in France at the time I bought it...
- second, the price for a regular SE T610 on eBay was near 450 USD + shipping, and I bought mine for 320 EUR... BTW, it retails at 550 EUR in France now.
- Also, when you buy in the US, you have to change the charger (additional 50 USD) to get it fit to EU voltage and stuff... All this counted, that totals 550 USD (470 EUR).

Unfortunatelly, I didn't know (and the reseller didn't tell) that not only were the faceplates customized with the Voda logo, but also the software...
If you never saw the Voda settings, I can assure you that it is pretty nasty

So here is a little free advice for those who would want to buy on eBay: beware of German / UK / etc sellers who offer Voda branded products...

Simion,

You look like a guy that knows alot about cell phones , so perhaps you could explain something to me:

I understand that on cell phones, you have an Operating System (which is easily upgraded by the SE centers) and a "bios" that is not so easily upgraded... The later is installed deep into the "motherboard" of the phone, and the former is somewhere on some sort of "hard drive".

Still, what is the major difference between a cell phone and a computer, as far as the "motherboard + firmware" couple is concerned?

Because I have been flashing my motherboard a lot to get it to support the latest bios, etc.

Does this work the same way for cell phones?

I got my T610 unlocked from www.unlocking.net they charged me £5, you can e-mail them or call them speak to a guy called Nav. Feel free to give my reference they will probably remember me "kooleyez" since I got my T68i done through them and quite a few other friends of mine got theirs done too.

I think I know the shop, is it near W Ken tube station? I went there 2 unlock my T68i and he wanted 2 charge me £30 and said thats cheap and how every1 else was gonna raise their prices to £40+ soon and how I should do it quick. Obviously, Im no fool and I got mine done in a shop on Askew Road W12 for £15 about 6 months later...

Dear indianbwoy, i'm sorry to hear about your experience at our store. To be fair though, we were the only ones with the T68 unlocking solution at that time, hence the initial high cost for the unlock. And we agree that you did get the t68 unlocked, 6 months later for £15. Just to compare, the T68i cost ~£300 6 months ago, but they can now be had for ~£150 or less. Get it? . Anyway, as a gesture of goodwill, and 'cos we are fans of this forum, we will provide all legitimate forum members with the t610 unlock @ £15....

I just wonder if there are any news on the firmware update to get rid of the T-Mobile icons.

What about the '13 second trick'? Doesn't that work with the T610? This message was posted from a T300
