If your in the UK, I dont think you can beat this one for price vs functionality.

What are the transfer speeds like with your SanDisk reader? I just had a look and it looks a nice little device. (A simple test is to time how long it takes to transfer 120mb of Mp3s, Oggs etc- the cheap PQI reader takes 3:30 - 3:45 mins) Also, can you put Memory Stick Duos straight into it or do you need to use the adapter?

It can plug directly into the USB port, but also comes with a 1m USB cable with it. Transfer speeds are good (5 meg MP3 in about 10 secs) and the device integrates with Windows Explorer, so is visible as another drive so you can copy stuff straight to it.

Hi,

I have just purchased a brand new PQI Memory Stick Reader/Writer (Single Slot Reader) and every time i put it into Windows 2000 and XP Systems, it prompt's for drivers.

When i purchased the product, the product description said

Single Slot Reader/Writer for Smartmedia cards
Hot-Swappable Supported,
Compliant to USB Spec. 1.1 with full speed
Low Power Consumption,
Suitable for Desktop & Notebook PC
Windows 98 /98SE /ME/2000/XP and Mac O/S 8.6 & above Supported
Mass Storage Class Compatible,
No Driver Needed in Windows ME,XP

I purchased this product on the basis of "No Driver Needed in Windows ME,XP". Can you please tell me why this is happening?

The product was purchased from www.ebuyer.co.uk.

Thanks.

I know you got it due to the fact that you wouldn't need drivers but did you not get the cd in the box with the drivers on it.

I used the disk to install the drivers and I had it all set up and running in under 5 mins.

kearnage, the drivers did come with the device, but i don't really want to install a driver on each and every machine i use the device on. i just want to plug it in and use the device staight away like all other mass storage devices. thats the advatage of them.

this way, i can just copy off and on, such as pictures and mps's onto anyone's computer.
