Dude, I have a keyboard and a P800. I can confirm they work just great
I miss being "in the know", but I'm glad this finally got out to the public

Geesh! People need to find better threads on the subjects they're looking for. I had such a better thread started about this keyboard, but this is the one that got brought back up for some reason...
ANYway. In that other thread, you would have seen that the IR transmitter on the keyboard is on the left-hand side. The IR receiver/transmitter on the P800 is also on the left-hand side. IR doesn't need straight-on line of sight, and the P800's receiver has a pretty good spread.

Doesnt make logical sense - IR is a beam of light which is projected varying from 12 degrees right up to 80 degrees depending on the Device... simple example, your TV remote works on IR, face your remote away from the TV and try and change the channel - will it work? sometimes - depending on the Type of IR technology used..
The P800's IR is unfortunately very poor, therefore the IR keyboard could cause a bit of hassle, all though a mirror or other redirecting device could work and do the trick.
just a quick and simple explanation

I'm just telling you how it is. The working range of angles for the IR in this instance is large enough for the phone to sit in the middle of the keyboard and work. Your TV remote example is not exactly analogous, since you are talking about pointing the beam directly away from the receiver. We're talking about an angle.
Bottom line: trust me, it works.

Well i guess it does work because i saw another thread in my-symbian that gives the same explaination. What we can do is to install the software in our phones and test the keyboard in the store before buying.

and you place the p800 on the stand that comes with the keyboard, rest it somewhere, lay it down, or put it standing up?
i'd love to see a photograph of it working, no matter the quality

Here is my post on My-Symbian that shows the setup. It doesn't show it with the program running, because at the time I wasn't really permitted to talk about the driver.
