Win98SE
Outlook 97
IrDA - Asus IRM-100 (£14 from dabs.com) plugged into Gigabyte GA-7DX motherboard. It would not work until I changed the default BIOS setting of full duplex to half duplex.
Works perfectly on synchronising and background picture transfer, only tried it on 9600bps.

OS: WinME / Win2k
Office 2000
IR: selfmade (schematic at www.infraredport.de)

No Problems with both operating systems, works also with high transmission speed..

IR-device will be plugged directly on your mainboard, connector on most newer boards. Costs for material : about 10 EUR

Seems little rhyme or reason here. Where problems occur Win XP seems to be involved more often than not.

Of course it's hard to say whose "fault" this is, but I wish vendors like Ericsson wouldn't advertise their products as being compatible with mainstream hard/software when it clearly isn't

OS: Windows 2000
PC: Toshiba Satellite Pro

It's not possible to change the IrDA speed for this Toshiba model, and probably a lot of others. My IrDA driver doesn't support SIR (Serial Infrared) which uses speeds between 9600-115,200bps. It uses the new FIR (Fast IR) with support for 4.0 Mbps. Even if new IrDA hardware is supposed to be backward compatible with SIR, the Toshiba Win2000 IrDA driver is not.
Because of this, I'm only able to transfer small amout of data between the PC and phone. Outlook 2000 sync sometime works but sending logos doesn't.

More about IrDA at Toshiba support

Hello

I am not able to get a contact with my cell phone to the pc via infrared for syncing with xtnd connect pc (the software which i use for sync my lotus notes with my t68, trial version 4.4 - i do not want to pay 60$ for a non functioning prog). as i found some articles that match my criteria in some way, i cannot fix the problem. mobile modem settings/drivers and other configuration tools do well without
problems. only xtnd connect pc has got problems with infrared. i get following error message

"some of the infrared communication components are missing" --> where do i get this ? Furtheron I cannnot chose my T68 while installing the software. only one model is shown (R320s). Additionally, "irbridge kernel-level interface" in device manager is shown as not installed, driver is not recent?

does anybody know this problems? use someone this software for notes sync as well? would be nice getting some help

Ericsson phones and PCs are just plain incompatible. Very poor show is my opinion. This should really be an Advertising Standards Association issue. Trade descriptions Act maybe.

i think this is the answer to your problem, although it is not very helpful:

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen

Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Customer Care Center.

Our software does not support the Windows XP products yet neither the OS nor the
Office package.
As a matter of fact I have no information about the release date. Please inform
yourself on our web page or call us from time to time.

Best regards,
