it looks like i can change to a lower tariff with no problems, i rang them a few minutes ago and i was given a list of lower priced tariffs so i have to ring them again on friday (day before first 3 months is up) and let them know what tariff i want. will let you know how i get on.

I know this is a bit off topic for this thread but if you are interested there is a seller on eBay selling P800s for £220 (new) and taking payment by credit card and is based in the UK!!!

See http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3044972694&category=42391

JAH
that last link you posted seems a bit suspect. all i get is a message stating "The item you requested ( 3044972694 ) is invalid, still pending, or no longer in our database. Please check the number and try again. If this message persists, the item has either not started and is not yet available for viewing, or has expired and is no longer available". £220 is too cheap for a brand new P800.

People
I have successfully changed down to the 100 min Xnet from the 500 min Xnet on Voda through single point. The first 3 month cost me £99 (half price) and if I don't drop down from the 100 min Xnet it will cost me £99 + (£22 * 9) = £297 for the year. Just to upgrade to the P800 on O2 would have cost me £400 without taking into account the monthly contract. Hopefully I can pull the same stunt next year with the P810/P900. Many thanks to everyone who replied to this post and especial thanks to the people who originally started this post over three months ago.

JAH
if it seems too good to be true then it probably is (unfortunately)

The latest information from Single Point (for Vodafone contracts) is that you can't change to a lower tariff for SIX MONTHS! So be aware.

If you search the forum you would find a post by me 3 months back in which i am extremely happy coz i just took the P800 on voda/singlepoint for £37.50 month (£60 + 100 sms @ £7) half price for 3 months. PHONE FREE.

Loads of people dissed me and said that singlpoint will NOT LET ME CHANGE MY TARIFF AFTER 3 MONTHS but just to clear this point

I CHANGED MY TARIFF YESTERDAY EVENING TO £15 MONTH !!!!! AND THIS WAS AFTER 3 MONTHS NOT NOT NOT NOT 6 MONTHS!!
Total = £37.50 x 3 = £112.50
£14.99 x 9 = £134.91

total cost of my P800 = £247.41

AND THIS INCLUDED FOR THE FIRST 3 MONTHS = 500 MINS ANYTIME + 100 TEXTS WORLDWIDE.

NOW 30 MINS ANYTIME.

so singlepoint are loosing the plot a bit but who the hell gives a f...K --------- I surely dont ! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But BUT BUT BUT - The phones4u catalouge does mention in fine print that a vodafone contract can ony be downgraded AFTER 6 MONTHS and anychanges before 6 months would mean a NEW 12 month contract!! So people be sure before you buy...best bet is to call singlepoint customer services before signing anything.

HOPE THIS CLEARS THE AIR .... Phewwwwwwwww

maybe it was your post i first read. i was on the exact same contract as you and this morning (Fri) i was able to drop to the £22/month (100 min Xnet anytime + £3 for 50 SMS) so i might stick with that for a month and if i dint get through the free 100min i might drop to £15 next. the people at phones4u were not too sure if it was 3 or 6 months. what i found interesting after i called to drop tariff was when i asked to get the settings sent to me for MMS they asked for my phone type! the call girl didn't know i had a p800 till i told her. strange!!

If anyone else out there in ESATOland has been able to pull the same stunt as the rest of us please let us know if you were successful.

I got my P800 for free on a £70/month contract, and instantly dropped it down to £15/month

@arfster

Could you say a bit more about your contract - which carrier and which service provider (e.g. Orange and Phones4U etc). The reason is those waiting to get a "cheap" P810 will know where to try first.
