p800 like phone= similar to p800 if not the same in almost all aspects and of cource its better but not for th UIq at least in my opinion but for the 65k screen thats the big difference here.

If we ever see a port to the P800, it will come from the underworld as a Warez.

At least that's what happened on the PocketPC on 2000, the first upgrade came from a leaked version through underworld channels.

It's only a matter of time and compatibility...

compatibility is not the issue hee the main problem is if ever sony make it happen and as a guy before said they dont plan to do it because of the p810.Its a marketing thing how i hate this things grrr when something new occurs they buried the old one.

But what about the marketing when the t68i came out...sony ericsson gave the same software upgrade for all t68 users...they did not have to and that could have affected their sales however they seemed to favour customer satifaction rather that trying to make money...maybe they will do it again with the p810 cause i am sure they know that many p800 user will not be happy that an upgraded version of their phone with slight improvements is replacing a phone which they spent alot of money for....what is your opions?

if they wanted to upgrade to UIQ2.1 they wld hv done it in april as expected
but since they scrapped that idea
they prolly figured "y focus on this super buggy phone.. let's try to make a new, better one!!"

But aren't we all forgetting several things....!

The P800 has a 4096 colour screen Symbian 7 and UIQ2, it has proved itself unquestionably that it is a serious piece of kit. There are many 'serious' PDA users switching (the company where I work has replaced Compaqs with the P800!)

The P810 has a 65k colour screen, Symbian 7 and UIQ2.1. For those who don't really know, the MAJOR differences in 2.1 is 'profiles', better contact handling and better phone handling. Trust me, there really isn't that much difference as a whole.

At the moment, UIQ2.1 has NOT been tested in the big bad world, the programs, apps, games, gimmicks you love MAY or may NOT work under UIQ2.1. It's highly likely they will, but we all know that Windows XP was an upgrade from Windows 95/98/2k, and whilst the core is the same, there are severe compatibility issues.

Personally, it's my belief that the P810 is being released to test the market now. Just to see if the additional 65K screen and new and/or existing users. If it doesn't then have lost nothing, they've just gained a few more users. They haven't invested in the 'latest' technology like they did with the P800, they've merely enhanced it.

I reckon this time next year, we'll be talking about a new model, one that will REALLY knock the socks off the P800 AND P810, with a tried and tested OS, and aimed half phone and half true-type-PDA.
