I don't know whether to be angry or to laugh myself off the chair I'm sitting reading the stuff that you guys are posting...

Give the guy a break... he's asking a valid question... can he get any answers without having to go through whether one should be watching from such a small screen or be sandwiched in the SE vs Nokia war?

Here's my input:

In a VCD, open the folder containing "MPEGAV" folder, you'll find the main movie file in the .dat foramt. Copy the file (I know it's heavy) to your harddisk. Rename it to a .mpg extension. Use mpegable software to convert the .mpg file to a mp4 file. Copy to P800 and you may watch your movie.

I bought lots of Powerpuff Girls VCDs for my 4-year old daughter and have converted lots of the episodes this way. She gets to watch her favourites many a times on my P800 when we were outside home. It should work for longer movies...

Hope this helps.

Hey go easy there. The man's been answered already... Where's the harm in having a little fun every once in a while on the forum?

I watched an episode of a TV program during my commute in this morning - definitely more than acceptable (tho' LOL drew some stares!).

@Mimzo
Your right, the first time I saw the Matrix was on a Video Tape with my friends and I must say that afterwards we got so exited and started fighting like the matrix until I broke a chair on him, (I wonder what will happen if I did watch it on a p800, I guess my dad will hate me even more for chucking it out of the window)

I remember watching 9th season of friends (of course still NOT RELEASED in spain) in my p800... so much great times laughing on the train and people of the train laughing about a man laughing alone...

Oh, sorry, what I wanted to say is that you can watch it on tv and use camcoder to record it (the only pain is that you got 600 volumes for 1 movie).

...nevermind

Thanks for the help.

I'm not a man... yet, I'm still a boy
Bought the phone with my own savings.

When anyone starts flaunting their newly-bought Nokia, I just pull out my stylus. They already know what my phone can do to shut up.

Now to try getting the Matrix on my phone.

How do you rename it into a .mpg ? It stays as a DAT for me...

RE-EDIT : Managed to turn it into a .mpg. Tried using mpegable, managed to convert it into a .mp4, but what bitrate and audio bitrate should I use to fit a approx. 1h45min - 2h film into a 128MB??

Also, the mpegable is very lag.

Anyone have a better program than MPEGABLE?

EDIT : looks like PV is good. Managed to do what I intended to do. Cheers. Oh and... how do I take a particular scene from a movie out?

I've got Matrix small enough to fit on my 128mb Duo, doesnt do justice to the film though, problem is its a dark movie, P800 cant do dark scenes too well. I also have the Lion King down to about 100mb, and the quality is good.

I've also found that using the old camcorder software doing the rounds appears to be a few frames a sec smoother.
