WHat is 1.5.1 - the backup software version?
@Jah
I'm on R2F and TOD still exists
@Bouger
From everything else I;ve read here it sounds like u allowed your C drive to get too full. Recent firmware creates slopfile.ini - a junk file - that bootup deletes to make space for a bootup, and then recreates once successfully booted. A fairly elaborate trick, so clearly an unassailable problem! It souds like you have NO way of getting into your C drive to delete anything. I'm the LAST person to recommend the "oh, your mouse is funny, let's reformat your harddrive" bull, but in this case I can;t see anything u havn;t tried. The firmware upgrade will give you your phone back (it's a 0-based scrub - think FDisk) so at least your not out of $$. From now on, keep C empty as possible, and buy bigger MSD if necessary.

@craigiecraigie4 1.5.1 refers to the PC Suite s/w version
@Bouger One more option. Have you tried re-boot without the memory card installed?

This is a guess at a suggestion. I have no idea what it will do, but with some kit, I've found it can force reset and bring it back to life.
With the phone powered up ('turned on'), try removing the battery, leave it out for 30 seconds, put the battery back in and try turning it on again?

I had that happen, my early firmware allowed the phone to freeze when i unzipped a program that was larger than the memory left.
Nothing could be done other than a firmware reflash/upgrade.
Have you got a large proportion of your contacts on your phone AND sim memory, Obviously any sim stored contacts are nice & safe but you knew that didnt you.

I just read through the thread
first off, welcome to esato
second off... I'm sorry to say, but I hope u hv a good back up
try booting the phone without a sim and msduo
I'm not too sure but maybe u can back up from there... I doubt it, but hey.. anything is worth a shot right?
next off u can take it to a SE service point and ask them if they can retrieve it for u
if not, let them flash it and try to keep the C: clean next time
I'm sorry I cant be of more help
I know what it feels like to lose that kind of info
I once lost a few model's number... I was so frustrated I through the phone against the wall (it crashed while backing up)
thankfully my phone syncs my address book when I plug it in
and I keep the installation of software
but u mentionned earlier u hv 2 P800s
if u dont mind me asking, y wldnt u hv had ur contacts on both phones?

I have to disagree. My phone conked out whilst using Opera. Im assuming, from what others have said, that Opera filled the C:\ drive up with its cache contents. I had R2F and a slopfile.ini and I had known and presumed the same as you say but it wasnt so!
Bugger coz I lost my contacts and I hadnt backed up for a while but I managed to salvage most from an old backup.

thankyou for your help i appreciate it, i may regret mentioning the above but i thought it would help you and others to know the level of my knowledge.
its difficult with forums as you never know how much the others know
( i mean no offence to you at all

and i hope non is taken from my reply )
