> GUYS, 2 thumbs down for P900
Bookmark topic
Well read all the posts, and after the kiddies have gone to bed and stopped calling people wankers, it's good to see so much 'constructive' criticism.
I've been following these threads for sometime now, the P900 sure is one good phone, but for the majority of us P800 users that actually USE the phone and not use it as a dick-extension, the P900 doesn't really offer anything new.
I for one MAY buy the P900 after the new year when I know it's firmware is stable, and the price has to come down. Can't remember who said it, but someone did mention that a P800 with 3rd party apps can almost become a P900, and I guess that is so true.
On Mobile-Review, they 'hint' at the mention of

new phone that is coming, or will be announced in Summer 2004, not really that long to wait and by then, Hi-Fi, long-range bluetooth (100m, not 30ft!!), higher mPixel cameras, memory, OS will be looming over the horizon. I for one will certainly be interested in the transition from my P800 to a monster-phone, rather than my P800 to it's bigger brother.

You know, before I lost my P800 last month

, I had the opinion that the P900 was just not worth it and how my P800 looks better, etc.... Better ever since then, I now have a very different opinion and feel that the P900 is so much better - in short a total about turn in my opinions about the P900.
I feel that before I am probably in some form of denial about the potential of P900 because I want to be sure that the amount I had spent (I spent about S$1250 - about US$725 when I purchased a 800 in January 2003 without contract) is fully justified and has not gone to "waste". But such is technology - they make everything go obsolete fast.

heh i think DarkRay have a good point..
I was gonna buy the P800 a few month ago but now i will definately get the P900.. why? because its alot better, new features, themes, better sound.. better screen, video recording.. more advanced 3D engine and that V-Rally looks awsome, like a real game..
So why buy the P800 for me? But i understand those who allready got the P800, they have spent alot of money pretty recently and they should maybe wait.. but what the heck.. sell your P800 and get a pretty nice sum now while you can and then buy the P900.. i would have done that..
Soon the price of P800 will sink alot..

My sentiments exactly. I DON'T own a P800 and I have been thinking about getting a P900. But I don't want to get one just yet because I'm afraid the replacement will be here (malaysia) sooner than i think. We here in Malaysia will probably get the P900 in Q1 2004, so it won't hurt for me to wait for a few months and see what's up. I have been burnt before by buying the T300 ... When it was released here it was RM1399 with MCA 25 then only 3 months after that came T310 with a price tag of RM999 with MCA 25. The staff at the service point in my area treat it like a failed product....

IMHO, they

should have at least put WiFi support for the P900. I need that in order to be productive. There is WiFi in my Uni and I use it with my laptop. The fact that they didn't do so could be because they are planning to release a P1000

soon ?
The things that are stopping me from buying a P900 is : WiFi, 100m Bluetooth, average camera, EDGE support, and NO duo PRO support...
Don't get me wrong, the

P900 is GREAT, but i dont NEED it yet, I just WANT it

. When its replacement comes out with all of the above, I'll NEED it
I'd much rather hold on to my $$ and get a better unit.... Seems

is trying a NOkia 7210 ~ 7250 stint .....
If

goes with the marketting tactic of NOkia, it'll be good for them, no doubt about that. But, how about us ? The consumers ...

Well do you want SE to survive? They MUST sell more phones, get market shares.. otherwise they will not continue with SE. So im glad they put alot of phones in the market now and peeps starting to see what great phones they are making.

Yeah, but that just makes them blend in with the crowd ! They won't stand out anymore !

Well, i don't REALLY mind, as long as they keep on pushing for new technology ....

Hey! I must say that I can see the point in people that called him a wanker, why?, because he made an opinion and said don't buy the phone it's crap, after playing with it for 2 mins!!! on the other side we have three very long reviews by profesional sites (mobile-burn, mobile-review, my-symbian) that said that the p900 is a great phone!!!
I'm not a SE fan that wouldn't let anything to be better, but guys you have to agree that the p900 is a great move from se, they have put a p800 under a microscope and improved everything and for that kinda improvment you have to have a phone for at least a week to see all the benefits of it!
yep it isn't that much better just by looking at specs and pics, but as I have read there are alot of things that really makes your life easier, it's true that with 3rd party software you can have something similar, but it still isn't the same, YES, i agree with you guys that for most people the p800 to p900 transaction isn't worth the money,
but this p900 is a GREAT move, without it people would have to chose between SX1,6600, and p800, and most of them would chose sx1 or 6600 because of the screen and some new features, while p900 beats the two of them and it's surely a winner betwen the three,
as I said they have improved p800 to the limits (yeh they didn't put in wifi or 100m bluetooth and a better camera, but as I see it they don't have them in stock so why would they wait for six months for these things and in the meantime they would lose a pile of money because of cristmas, people, se isn't stupid you know),so what's new:
mophun, j2me, 65k screen without the ugly blue haze, design, size, lenses, battery, new os things (filemanager, themes, contacts manager, wordexcel editor....), pen, ram, memory, dual processors, better bluetooth, big screen (flip mode), videorecorder and on on and on
and guys you can't have this things just by software,
the point is don't say: don't buy the phone! on an open forum that has 5000 active users, while you tried the phone for two minutes, this is surely an insult for se enginers if they have spent a year on this phone and then a guy comes, tries it for 2 minutes and says: it's crap, cmon be serious
I don't have a problem with your opinion you can say that you didn't like it but please don't say such things by playing with it for two mins!!!
se have money problems and it's logical that they put two similar phones out, the second one to improve mistakes that they have made, like t300-t310 (i didn't read a review that didn't said that the t300 is ugly and they have improved that) t610-t630 (all reviews said that the stn screen is shit in sunlight and they have improved that) p800-p900 (I can remember the things you said about no fileman not themes and so on and on and they have improved that) while nokia puts 10 almost the same phones at the SAME TIME out in the stores!!!
even sony fired 20000 people this week and you are complainin about the lack of new features in phones!! phones like the p900,t310 and t630 helps in keeping people at their jobs!!! se isn't like patek-phillipe or sonus faber or ferrari, se has to make not only revolutinary and tech stuff they have to make money!!
only my 2 cents......

d_g is using some harsh language, so maybe that got some people upset.
but i think it's a reasonable post. so he thinks the p800->p900 step-up is not worth all that money.
if you don't already own a p800, then there are other issues to look at.
and why do people on this board always move off-topic and complain about someone else's impressions? sheesh. try to relax a little, guys

I don't see a point in people shouting at DJ and I can see nowhere that he mentions that he used it only for two minutes and in my opinion for a person who is familiar with p800 using the p900 for a day is enough to see how much more value it adds for the extra 750 dollars. In business end of the day it is all down to value addition, I won't be sympathising with sony if they didn't do thier homework and assesed what the customers perception of value is. And he just said its not worth for p800 users to upgrade. I think you must be careful MMSMAN when saying he can't give an opinion in a forum with 5000 active members then why on earth are we on this forum why shouldn't we just read the 'great reviews' by those great sites? For example none of the reviews i read about p800(before i bought it) didn't mention things like, I can't withheld my number all the time, or the other person on the phone also can hear a beep if I am getting a second call, can't record calls which even an nokia 8310 can do and things like that. so I really value the opinion of the users even if that means they used it only for a few hours and that is the only reason I am on such a forum like this
Edit: atleast he didn't boast that he is going to buy p900 and didn't even bother to give a review like some others in tis forum did

At last something smart from Anish, Joke...
40-50% of posts are opinion based.
And even if you don't agree, calling the man a WANKER is unreasonable, especially in light of the fact that the person, "probably" hasn’t even touch a p900.
