I'm pretty sure you can do that actually.... I know people who have done it in that past - along with the old "oops I lost it please send another one" trick on the insurance.

If you know someone already on Orange get them to fill in the Form on the front page of the October Orange Magazine.
By recommending you to Orange, they get £25 call credit, you get £50 off a phone plus ( I think) £50 trade in for your old one (only at Orange Retail Shops!). Have got round to asking what conditions are attached to the trade-in though.
The same form is available on the Orange website but it doesn't mention anythign about a trade-in.
Offer good until Dec 31 but according the Orange Shop I called, I couldn't change Tariffs for 3 months. If it's like Mobileshop or Onestopphoneshop they probably have in their T&Cs that they can charge you the full price of the handset based on the lower tariff if you change too soon.

i just figured it out...£89 for handset...£150 for first 3 months then £15 a month for 9 months...makes it £415 or there abouts...its not really worth it IMO.
@JiggyJaggy, Or £374 for those of us that can add up
EDIT, Oh i see now, you meant to put in 4 x £50 not 3.

Not being funny but there is not really much from stopping a customer downgrade their tariff. Its the retails shop or outlet that loose commission. I think you can change the tariff after one month only.
Then it is worth while.
This all depends on what network you are on, with orange you are not able to downgrade until you have had the phone for 3 months, while with some other networks it is 1 month

OK, i got one on Orange Your Plan400 from CPW 08000490049 to be delivered tomorrow, i took the advice from this thread & asked CPW to get as near as they could to the
http://www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk/ price, £69.99 + £50per month (but "onestopphoneshop" wont get them for 2 weeks)
So CPW gave me the phone for £100 (normally £150) on a £50 contract for first THREE months & £15 for remaining 9 months, TOTAL price £385.
(i checked this 120 day minimum period before downgrade, with orange)
I will not be using the sim, so the free minutes make no difference to me, i use a OVP Orange sim.

Caspa
are you there? When do CPW start sales of the P900s in the shops? When I bought my P900 from CPW Direct they said they did not have enough phones for retail sale yet.
