> Increasing the infrared range of px00

Havent heard back from SE or the infrared data association, and to be honest i doubt i will. So i had a go at trying to figure out the circuitry myself. Anyone who has looked at it will understand how tiny the bits are, so its causing me plenty frustration. Anyway i tried shorting a couple of the resistors in the ir circuitry of a t68 (its probably identical) and so far have only succeeding in master resetting the device.
Meanwhile, im trying out another idea, its a tiny seperate handheld unit which runs on a miniature 12v battery, the same as in remote car alarm switches. You hold it up to the ir port of the phone, it recieves the output, amplifies it, and sends it out again via a high power ir emitter. Its in "experimental" stages, but theoretically could at least quadruple the range. Would anyone be interested in this?

Wouldn't it be simpler just to use the TV (or whatever) remote control???

Are you crazy? What sense would that make?
I thought of another way to do this. You can duct tape your normal remote to a car-100. Then with your t68 you drive the remote to you. But I am not sure what to do then with the P8/9

Have you seen this IR extender product from Pocketop, it might provide the amplification you're after

Sounds similar. the one i made plugs into the port and runs straight off the phone battery. 20ft range so far, not bad.
