I still say, these stores are mixing up MS Duo and MS PRO Duo. The first link where they showed a PRO proves it (the other sites you provided have no pictures nor additional info). Even at Sony's own internet shop you can clearely see that there are
no MS Duo larger than 128 MB.

http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_BrowseCatalog-Start;sid=SC49ZGjOIcc9RlcV_PQ3byfBqd_Wq075_YM=?Dept=acc&CategoryName=acc_MemoryStickMedia

Click on an "Find Out More" picture further down on the page and a new window will pop up. In this window select "Media" and there you go. All MS formats and sizes supported by Sony (their own info). Select "3d" party and you will se there are no 3d party MS Duo larger than 128MB either.

MS Duo sold by Sony simply goes from 64-128 MB and MS PRO Duo from 256-512MB (currently).

Now, who do you believe ? Sony or your internet shops ?

Just a thought, not based on any known facts (!), but seem logical to me. The original MS format had a 128MB design limit - why would Sony replicate this error with a new format called the Duo? Seems to me that Sony may have designed-in a better headroom for the Duo than the old fashioned MS. Please feel free to flame me - just my idea.

@WVL

Once I saw Dealtime post the exact same part # with a pic of a 256mb PRO DUO I know something was screwed up. Could it be that these vendors are typing MSH-M256 instead of MSX-M256??? The reason I ask is because that second part # actually queries 256mb PRO DUOs. However, there has not been ONE accurate pic of a 256mb DUO. Why would you think that is???? I don't think these vendors really know what's going on. Moreover, Sony doesn't recognize that part #.

I would be quite shocked if the UK would actually be in the forefront of carrying the only 256mb DUOs in rinky dink electronic stores when electronic revolutionary places like Japan hasn't uttered a word about it yet...

Jah, I have no reason to flame you.

MS has a capacity limit of 128 MB and this limit has been overcome with the MS PRO, which has a limit of 32 GB.

The "Duo" suffix has nothing to do with the capacity. It only states what form factor (dimention) the MS has.

To summarize:

- MS, capacity max 128 MB and measures 50.0(W) x 21.5(H) x 2.8(D) mm (1.97 x 0.85 x 0.11 in) and weighs 4g (0.14 oz).

- MS PRO, capacity max 32 GB and measures 50.0(W) x 21.5(H) x 2.8(D) mm (1.97 x 0.85 x 0.11 in) and weighs 4g (0.14 oz).

- MS Duo, capacity max 128 MB measures 31.0(W) x 20.0(H) x 1.6(D) mm (1.22 x 0.79 x 0.06 in) and weighs 2g (0.07 oz)

- MS PRO Duo, capacity max 32 GB measures 31.0(W) x 20.0(H) x 1.6(D) mm (1.22 x 0.79 x 0.06 in) and weighs 2g (0.07 oz)

You see the difference ? Note! The max capacity for PRO is what is specified in technical documents. Currently max available for sale is 512 Mb for MS Duo PRO and 1 gb for MS PRO (2004 that is to my knowledge).

thankyou!..stop waiting for a 256MB duo!,we make a 256 Duo 'pro'(and a 512Mb..soon to be joined by a 1Gb duo pro)
By Q2 04 a 2GB pro stick(not duo) will also hit the market.
read the Sony site, not other sites-we market the media,we have the correct codes.
end of story
(yes, I work for Sony)

I think SE had already hinted in a grocery magazine newstand that the P900 wasn't getting pass 128mbs. It was called the "White Paper".

Any adaptation to except memory pass 128mb would come from SE. I never understood why most thought memory stick manufacturers were behind the driver's seat on that one. I'll sit tight and await SE's new phone which I'm sure will come to support the PRO format out of sheer competition with the current 3g phones that are already supporting the PRO DUO format.

Many strores sell MS PRO Duo as MS Duo, but you can tell them apart by the manufacturer part number. We are still waiting for your answere and don't forget to include the manufacturer part
number as well to make it possible to verify your claim.
