To add a small twist to things....i returned my P900 to CPW in Edinburgh, and on the back of my reciept of cancellation, there wasnt any 3.7 clause in the T&C's!! So Im guessing that branch of CPW hasnt started using their new batch of A5 stationary! I might try next week if the handset is still free on the Orange network.

On a positive note, I managed to get a P900 on the O2 contract tho on Xmas eve which was great. Got 400 txts a month free too for the first 3 months.

Hey all!

I work for Orange retail and am happy to answer any questions people may have regarding the terms and conditions of contarcts and ways round tariffs!

Basically when u purchase a phone form Orange, u only have to keep the tariff for a minimum of three months - u can then drop it down to a talk 30 if need be!

So just to let u know- a P900 on a talk 400 (£50 pm) will cost u £149.99 - not bad considering u can then drop that tariff to a talk 30 (Only £15 pm) after three months.

Cheers

Not such a bargain Scott_b. Breakdown as follows....
Handset Price £150
Contract Price = (50*3)+(15*9)=£285
Total Price = £435
This price is pretty much average.

The 3 month rule would only apply to Orange retail stores to prevent them charging an excess on the phone....as Orange network allow you to change your tariff from next available billing date.

One question for you...whats max number of contracts allowed by one person under Orange network, is this set to 3(subject to credit checks etc)?

@Scott_b, its customary to quote the total minimum cost over the year when comparing phones prices, this way all deals can be compared easily to each other, lots of people nowdays are not looking for free minutes specifically as they have sims to put in the phone, this is to stop companies like Orange holding us to ransom with "Upgrading" in order for us to keep our phone number.

I use an OVP Virgin sim as a default sim, so if i get a phone with some airtime on the sim then it's a bonus but not essential.

The £120 P900's from CPW were a real bargain, my one has an OVP orange sim & an old just talk 5 free sms a day sim, using a twin sim this package costs me ONLY what i spend in voice calls per month & NOTHING else, (no line rental on Orange OVP Virgin)

It does look like the CPW cheap P900 loophole is over, but my question would be, how could CPW know who downgraded & who didn't because the contract is billed by Orange billing.
Also those with the "New" type CPW reciepts might want to check something, on the front of it do they actualy state what tariff you have agreed to sttay on, because my old type reciepts don't state a specific tariff, it would be difficult for them to prove what tariff i bought it on anyway.
