Some people here (like buster, Atlis and fu1at) completely misses the point of this thread.
I don't claim that SE should drop auto saving of sent messages by default, I just wish they make an option so I can disable it!
If you like it go ahead and use it, but I don't (like 1000's of others) and I want to be able to disable it. But it's not SO important that I would change the phone because of it.

@Jowi: What you're saying is not true. When your memory is full it doesn't replaces your oldest message. Instead your message icon is blinking and you have to manually delete stored messages. Outbox messages are not on separate memory, if outbox is full you can't receive new messages. It's as simple as that. At least on T100 where I experienced that for the first time.

@701: Yes but this is rather important setting because it directly affects memory of the phone (which is limited on all SE models).
On newer models you have more memory but remember that MMS take pretty much space and sent MMS can still fill up your available memory if you don't remember to delete them every time.

What is the difference between a customer and a consumer of mobile phones? Hehehe, a consumer probably eats them.

@guyvernet: I think you could disable it on A2610, don't remember. However like you said it's a trivial thing and should be implemented.

@saka-the sms icon blinks when your SIM memory is full. The phone can't delete automatically sms in your sim.

Usually on phones, incoming sms are stored in the phones internal inbox sms memory. then you have an option whether you like to save it in the sim or not.

@Saka: yes, i did see ur point from the start but like i said, not everything can be customisable. Some features are but i think there r so many these days that they choose to leave some of them apart. It's a lot of work for the programmers anyway, so maybe that's the reason.
I have to delete them at least every 10-12 days ( as u can see, i don't send too many sms and never mms') but it's quite ok for me.

@Jowi: Well anyway I know I could not receieve any more SMSs on T100 because my outbox was full (there was no messages in inbox).

@701: I don't think this is too hard programming job. It's probably because they don't want too many settings to confuse customer.
The problem is that in this case it's probably more customers who will be annoyed by the absense of this setting than those who would be confused if it was available.

MMS uses different memory than SMS,it uses the same memory as ur pics etc. I like the saved SMS option, and i think ur the first to complain about it so stop being lazy and use the 'delete all' option, its only 3 keypresses away once ur in SMS :-) This message was posted from a T610

well... let me be the 2nd to complain then... i too wouldn't mind an optiion to disable the autosave... as i never save sent texts anyway... and if it doesn't go through it already autosaves to 'unsent items' so i know I'll have to send it again

@boyi: Even though MMS uses different memory it still occupies your available memory. On T310 this is much memory which instead could be used by games, pictures, ringtones.

I may be the first to complain, but most certanly I am not first to think about it. I am not lazy to do delete but I am lazy to have it in mind every time I send SMS/MMS.

It's strange, as soon as you say something bad about SE they start jumping on you. I will not change my phone because of this but I WILL say (in hope it will be improved) that this is a small WEAKNESS of SE phones.

Just admit it and I will stop complaining

(Again I don't mean autosave is a weakness, but the absense of setting to turn autosave on/off)

@Vlamm: well, what if the network sends it but the receiver doesn't get it (due to broken phone, or off-coverage or smtng else)? U should keep it for a while

If u send a sms and it gets sent, then delete the sms,(if u use status report)ur report u get when other person opens the sms wont be able to tell u which sms's have actually been delivered. So if u send more than one sms around the same time u wont know which ones have been read and which have not yet been read, this is where u can see if there is a tick on the icon in 'sent items'. Hope this dont sound too confusing :-D lol This message was posted from a T610
