If the p900 icon does not appear in the bottom right hand corner then the phone is not connecting to your pc
The sync station green light should light up when the phone is connected
Otherwise you will have to use the SEARCH at the top of this page as their are a number of reasons why it might not be working

Every thing that has occurred to you was similar to my predicament.
The solution was in my case simply to switch off my firewall and everything burst in to life.
Take the phone out the cradle, turn off the firewall and then reinsert.
Worth a try.!!!!

Once again...
What is the point in transferring mp3 and videos via the supplied sync station... it will take half of the night to fill up a largish card...
For the sake of £10, which really is not that much, you can get a usb2 card read/writer (usb1 reader would probably be quicker than the syncstation also...)... then just use the duo to normal stick adaptor... and you can transfer mp3s and videos to fill a 128mb duo in a couple of minutes, rather than hours...
The sync station is ideal for what I consider to be it's purpose... backing up/restoring/synchronising (which i believe the poster is able to do)... but these jobs generally only require the moving of a couple of megabytes at most (even then mine took 15 minutes to complete)... imagine an albums worth of mp3s being around 50-60mb, or even a 100+mb mp4...
Come on, it doesn't take brain surgery to work this out people (but perhaps a bit stick may help!:)...
