@blount
Nope, still the same problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled scribble, and when I log on to the server, once it starts showing the available users online (and having some of their user icons flashing - I presume this indicates a new scribble from them), my phone promptly restarts itself.
and I've left ACM uninstalled too...
Edit : I can't uninstall it again! Don't tell me I have to uninstall another application again...

@buluayam: Sorry for all your trouble with this! If you do indeed have 4m available, I suspect that should be plenty if you only have a few buddies--the app is not that heavy on local storage.
We are going to load up a handset with junk and see if we can reproduce issues that crop up under low space available.
We are also at a loss to explain why the uninstaller is failing in this instance. But we will test that as well under low storage.
Thank you for your patience! I'll post to the board once we know anything.

No worries! It's perfectly understandable, this is the whole reason for asking us to try it out first!
I have a sneaking suspicion it could be my phone (ie a one-off problem) - I also have this problem whenever installing larger files on the phone, ie the phone keeps running out of resources. I'll try formatting my phone and restoring from my last known good install, and try scribble again!

I'd like to suggest that when a user (A) chooses to add another person (B) to their list, then if B accepts A, A automatically accepts B also and so is added to B's list as its silly to have to then do the reverse request manually
This is something I have often thought about with other IM programs

Tried to create a username/password but can't sign on. Get the message
Couldn't connect to the server!
Check the name and try again.
I'm using the default: scribble.orange.us
Any suggestions.

First can I say that I am very impressed with this nice free app.
Having used it several times in the past few hours I have a couple of comments / suggestions.
I agree with other posters, the user acceptance / pending process needs looking at. Maybe split it into two stages:
1) Check username exists.
2) Send request to user.
One way of doing this could be to include a wap / web community site with user profiles, as already suggested.
The other main problem I've had has been over-drawing. You have to get into a rhythm of conversation which can be difficult to start with. I wonder if a "User is drawing" flag could be incorporated into the software, similar to other instant messenging software.
These are the only two things that I think could do with being looked at, however if I could have a wish list for this app it would include:
1) Different Colours wouId be cool
2) Different line thicknesses
3) Emote / Smilie stamps which could be selected and stamped onto the page.
I don't know what plans there are for developing this software, but it would be great to see it grow with more facilities implemented. l think it being free is definatly a plus point.
Congratulations to the Scribble Team.

a couple more comments.
I'd like to be able to erase something I just did.
on a couple of occassions what the other person was writing appeared over the top of what I was writing so therefore it was unreadable.
also, could this application please improve my handwriting on the P900

@rmg: No, I'm not Darrell, but he sits about 10 feet from me!
@randomyachtie: We're looking into streamlining the buddy subscription process. Thanks for the feedback. To prevent "overdrawing", here we've been using the low-tech convention of drawing a line under our messages when we've finished saying something. The "user is drawing" flag solution like you suggest is another possibility, but since for most users bandwidth is not free, we are wary of adding nonessential elements to the transport.
Color + pen tools are highly requested features. The stamps suggestion is another one we're looking into.
@bensonl: Your GPRS is configured properly? We've had a few users report connection problems, but so far we're at a loss to explain it. Who's your mobile operator?
@buluayam / everyone: Thanks to buluayam's bug report, we noticed that the application is using about 2x the RAM on the P900 versus the P800. Uuuuh, sorry about that! (hahaha, that's what you get for buying the latest & greatest handset...) We plan to have a new drop of the installer available by Tuesday that fixes this problem. That should make it easier on all P900 users to keep more apps running while OrangeScribble is up.
Thanks again to everyone for the comments, complaints, bug reports, etc!
Alan
