Oh man XP Pro, even SP1a doesn't properly find USB drivers too well, especially if its Intel chipset, and you have the latest Intel chipset. Man Im beginning to hate XP, going back to Win2KPro.
For those having problems, sorry don't got a P900, so laugh it up and enjoy using it!!! God that phone just looks sharp each time you look at it, and it performs well too!! Is your PC a bare bones build on your own box?? Most problems with any hardware/software end up there but begin with Windows!!
Why not get a Bluetooth USB extension to sync your files/backup?? Can that be done?? If so that may reduce your fustration.
Whom else thinks that other than a 256k screen, more memory with "Duo Pro" support, and a 1.3/2.0 Megapixel camera is the only improvements that CAN be made with such a smart sleek performance device without screwing up the hardware design???!!!! If SE does add 1 handed operation of opening/closing ALL apps, with 1 handed navigation, and a split screen with flip closed (a la Palm T3 - part of screen off when not used) would be awesome of the p900 successor. But if they screwup the design and try to go the Nokia route (oops sorry I swore there) would make me puke.
Hey whom here uses their P900 autonomously - without PC/Mac for all of their wares and how do you do it??

Windows 98 huh?
Have not worked with that for several years. Do not remember off hand but try and delete all references to the USB. reboot and reinstall the driver. It might work.

I have the same problem. I running Windows 98SE. I got it working for maybe 10 minutes. Luckily I got my Residentevil theme on it. But now it does not work. Fetal error in thread 4..... everytime I reboot the thread number changes. Tried install restall ansoforth. Newest Dcom98. No avail. After uninstalling PC suite the message disappears. Contacted Sony tech support. What do they get paid for?
Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Online Support.
Outlook Express isn't compatible with the software. You would need Outlook.
Also, the error could be caused by the DCOM98 version 1.3 , if you already had it on your computer.
If you have any further difficulties, please contact our Technical Support Line
at 1-866-766-9374.

Well it seems to me that most problems are with the Win98 and Win2000 versions. Do I have to buy a new computer and upgrade to XP to make this work? Anybody here with trouble of PC suite for P900 and Win XP?

P900 owners unite. We have trouble with P900 and PCSuite and different windows versions. Send a message to:
questions.us@support.sonyericsson.com
The consumer has spoken. Let our voice be heard. Tell everybody you know. I want that SE is drowning in e-mails about this issue.

Why would you post that you never had a problem connecting with your phone and computer?
I understand why might have cadcad said that. Too many times, people are quick to blame the phone when it most likely is a. their computer, b. Windows, and/or c. their lack of computer hardware and networking knowledge.
People like cadcad (and me) who don't have problems (or who know how to fix the problems with their computers) don't appreciate people blaming the P900.
I'm not saying the phone is perfect, but when you are dealing with networks, cables, and operating systems, why immediately blame the phone?

BlackBauer24, I meant that does anyone use their P900/800 as their computer not synchronizing to any of their computers and only to an only SyncML server????
Wondering if anyone has that much faith in their SE??
ALso Cadcad, is it at all possbile if you can email me your USB drivers for WinXP please, pretty please I'm dying over here. I almost launched my computer out the door today!!
I've removed hardware search for hardware changes all without & with rebooting machine in ALL profiles except for limited user profile as that won't help. Its a clean install of WinXP Pro before SP1 yet updated to SP1 but before that I had to install my Dell/Intel chipset drivers for my network card to even work and my audio chipset to work as well. so I cannot get around that, I've even tried rolling back driver of the USB controllers, to no avail.
Can anyone help please?? I've even installed the latest chipset for my computer from Dell & Intel and NOTHING works????? No virus' either.

System running XP Pro with Anti-virus and Firewall installed and running. I initially had some problems getting the connection between the phone/sync-station and the computer. The problem I identified was that, on occassion, I would not turn on the power to the sync-station, as if I was going to charge the P900 battery, or I had connected the P900 to the sync-station before turning on the power I often had connection malfunctions. Since I have ensured that both the system is up and running AND that I have turned on the electrical power to the sync-station before placing the P900 onto the sync-station I have had no connection problems at all. I hope this simple fix might help some of you out!
