@mmsman

if you have tried all the os then you can comment. but xp professional is new and there are more problems to arrise in the future. 98se is ONE of the most stable but 2000 is also good. xp is newer so problems that will occur in the future hve not yet so how can you comment?

There's also the issue of PC specs. Not everyone has a PC powerfull enough to run XP without it being much slower than 98. True, you could run 2000 or ME but if you've already got 98, why spend more for ME (unstable) or 2000 (poorly supported compared to 98)? Not everyone has the money or inclination to upgrade their PC regularly.

Besides, having used all of these OS's, I can say that XP is bloody awfull

I can understand DD's frustration, and a lot of people do still run Win 98 (loads of people will tell you that XP uses too much memory, not stable enough etc) and so they stick with Win 98.

But at the same time as other people have said you can't expect a company (not just SE) but any company to make sure everything they produce is compatible with every OS available, would cost far too much and take much longer to develop anything.

And I don't think DD actually said he was a businessman, just that it is a businessman type phone.

@cycovision, djpowelly and blahblah.

thanks for the support! you are totally correct - win98 Second edition is probs the most stable system at a VERY low price. ur correct in that i canot upgrade and dont have the money too (unless i decide to stay with my p800 and not get a s700). and yes, i am not a business man i was askin for help, and many people hve given me help but others have commented on the fact that even though there are countless phone stores and not everybody can afford above win98 or the internet they have been rude and unhelpful. yes, i know most businessman will have a good computer but there are exceptions.

thanks again guys,

DD

well the answer to your question is in post #3,
and when i saw that someone answered you already i commented about your "trust" issue:
you obviously didn't do anything to help yourself (erm you didn't read through the reviews and you haven't searched the se page for software)
and then i commented about the os:
i had almost all operating systems (from 95 upwards) and i still find xp the most usefull and stable solution (it opens extremely fast, it has tons of "built in" drivers, no problems with software of any kind (router, bt, se sync, and that sort of things...) i almost never experience any crashes...
and about the "old" "new" os thing, well that's just stupid, i mean hell! do you wan't to wait till longhorn comes or what? sheesh

and btw ALL games and programs work on xp, is it so hard to download a patch?
