I just found this thread according to the originator of the thread PTT is available in UK I went to the website he mentioned and it says its only 7 pounds for unlimited talk time, sounds fair to me. i am waitng for some one to confirm whther they have used it in UK. According to the website you can pust to talk globally

Well, we pay alot in excharge for perfect coverage, competitive plans on the national market and all in all very good service. I am not saying they r cheap but if u compare it to the american service, the European one is faaaaar better and has more options/services available.
And i don't care about PTT too as only 10% of today's users in my country have colou screen phones , for example.
If PTT would be introduced today here, only 2% would buy a phone with PTT, so why bother?

Hi 701
I hope you are having a good day in (hopefully) sunny Romania!! I disagree that we get a perfect coverage in Europe certainly in the UK the coverage we get is far far from perfect, so much so that I have friends that live just 50 miles outside London who have given up their cell phones because they simply cannot get stable coverage, as for the services / Options we are supposed to get, well all we really need is good GSM coverage (50 miles around our capital city is not exactly the wilderness!) and Good stable GPRS access ( mine is often unavailable) what else do the carriers actually give us? Nothing but I can assure you their pricing structures are set to match what the market will stand NOT to give the consumer good value for money (the carriers here act as a cartel keeping their price plans nicely matched to each other) certainly this is true in the UK I cannot speak for the rest of Europe when challenged they blame the fact that they all bid too much for 3G licences! Well they based their bids on the amount they thought they could make from their customer’s didn’t they! plus they simply could not bear the thought of someone else getting their nose in the trough so they bid nice and high. I think the all carriers are a bunch of bandits at least in the UK maybe they are more realistic in Romania. I realy would like to know what we get and the Yanks dont

@NitroFan:
U have a point too!
I mean, i know what it means when 2 gsm companies make up for the "competition"=monopoly. We have it here also. I am not talking about it as this is a business and like everybody else they r set to make a buck. Here, too, they keep the prices up, but like i said, we have perfect coverage.When i say "perfect" i mean at least "extraordinary" coverage.In the cities (big or small) u can talk perfect in an elevator going up and down or in a basement without hearing the slightest buzz or a shielding;shadowing. When u travel at 200 km/hour on the highway or even on a national road, the phone moves very quickly from one cell to the other, causing a slight delay and a lot of enviromental noise- not here. They have a very good coverage and now they just adjust, making fine tuning.
U know why i tell u this?Cuz there's an explanation, a technical one: Romania went thru what's called "a technological loop" in 1997 when the 1st gsm company opened business here. The technological loop happens when u have nothing and next thing u know, u get urself the latest in comunication: a gsm network. U jump some tech stages in mobile comunication (nmt-analogical netw, then TDMA when u get some digital network) making the telecom company invest a lot of money in previous technologies ...when they get to gsm and have to upgrade, they take it easy cuz they have to make a profit before upgrading. All these things caused UK and other western countries to slow down in coverage and signal quality.Not in Romania. Here, they charge the same as U.K and others but the quality is the best i've seen in Europe (been to Austria, Germany, France).What we have that the yanks don't? BETTER coverage than them, the sms (they just discovered that 2 years ago), all related services included in ur subscription ( call baring, call I.D, double call, call waiting, conference-up to 5 ppl, etc), wap unlimited, GPRS and the most important HANSETS that never hit the states cuz they have that crappy 1900mhz frequence...
I cant think about other things now but i am sure there r more than that.
Sorry about the lenght of my post Just hope not to begin a flame-war now

sorry i'm posting after so long but work has been killing me!

@Richlok - no, you need two numbers, the phone number to call with and the private id to ptt.

@701 - you don't need a color phone to ptt. as far as i know, will be the first color phone with this option. all of the others so far are monochrome. very crappy phones with hardly no other options. i think when they're launched in Europe the'll spread like a virus
