@Lucas

The mapviews should be in my original post. I updated it. I am still working on a full report with my P900. So I'll post real-time view pics once I've documented my trial trips.

@Pharaon

What da hell are you talking about?

As to the GPRS issue, I raised the same question with the developers some time back. 'What if I drive into a non-GRPS area'? I don't care about GPRS fees, but I care about dead spots that may not allow me to connect to a GPRS network. I believe they do have that item addressed as an action item. However, I prefer that the software is grabbing the information from a server and not dumping the maps in my phone. I don't believe you would benefit much from having maps stored in the phone. Could you really get a full street map of the US or Europe into a Pxxx mobile phone?? One of my vehicle's GPS system uses a DVD-ROM disc and the other uses a pcmcia card. That's because it requires tons of data. So with that said, I don't think your interest requirement is feasible in any mobile phone. If you want a total mobile GPS navigation unit then I think a sole GPS navigation unit is what would best suit your needs. They do manufacture these devices for all types of applications (ie fishing, hiking, driving, etc..).

@BigFeat

Thanx for the replies, but not realy what I was meaning. I want maps, in my phone that shows me how the map looks like and the route that I want to take.

@...

As for GPRS spots. You (read: BigFeat) do raise a good issue about the "black spots" where you cant get any GPRS connection. I think the cost, even in Italy, would not be that great, since you are only downloading about 5kb per time. Thats, even in the most expencive networks only a couple of € cents.

The systems that have the full maps in them take up so much memory in my phone. I have heard of systems taking up to 64mb of memory. This is to much! Big, you if anyone, dont have that much memory to spare in your phone, do you?

Cheers

Luc
