in this case though, the law is about protecting the "sanctity and integrity of the justice system". if the guy took pervy shots in a changeroom he probably would still have got lesser penalty, but because he broke the law in court the penalty was harsher. any crimes against the instruments of the justice system (courts, police, etc.) are usually more harshly dealt with than crimes against the general public.

@masseur
I totally agree with you.
And lets not forget those who kill hundreds and thousands of people. And getting away with it.

those are the ones that havwe the justice system in their piocket though, not the other way around
and like i said, it's never wise to challenge a magistrate on his own turf. They don't like it as they think themselves almighty in their own court room. They do not take kindly to it. never have.
Like it or not, it really is THAT simple.

whining?

I thought we were "discussing" the relative harshness of the sentence and the inconsistencies in the law

hmmm that's not a book
whining is directed at the first page where the sentence is deemed 'unjust' for the 'minor offense' of taking piccies

what is interesting is that while photos cannot be taken in court, artists can make drawings of the defendant etc and these can, and are, published in newspapers and shown on TV news etc and very often are quite life like
I do believe these arent allowed to be drawn in the court room either. The artist would have to run off to the toilet the jot down the image, then colour it in later
