I understand why you thought I was mad for re-replying to a question that had already been answered. Whoops!
I wish I had spotted your answer earlier, that underscore has been bugging me for ages.
Anyway I hope my link to the Palmone site which shows the strokes for other unusual characters helps people.

Just to clear up one little matter though, the Manual and online help that come with the P800 actually have the wrong code to do an underscore. They show it as three arched lines, which does absolutely nothing.
I guess they corrected it in the P900 manual.
