My P900 recently "punched" a hole through the plastic just like the first posters photos
I'm only on the left side like in the photo, but it has come off completely and I bought it day of the UK launch (October 2003?)
I have since bought a new official "front" from l8shop.net (http://l8shop.net/Products/Original-Sony-Ericsson-P900-Front-Cover-4219.asp) which was £25+P&P.
Only one problem now... Anyone know how to open this phone? I can guess, but I'd rather be sure, but I have searched archives and can't find any instructions from anyone
Cheers!

@guyvernet
You would probably be best asking MixiN, he would probably be the best person to advise you on this.

The reason your flip doesnt touch on the right side is *open your flips out*, the flip recognition switch! its spring loaded and pushes the flip up slightly. you can push it back down but it just springs back up.
so there u go

This happened to my P900 also I put rubber stops under the cast in between screen and case which works perfect. This is a design fault!
This is not a warranty job though which Sony will not repair for free. What a shame as I know so many people this has happened to. It will eventually brake and look like to half moons on eash side like this (] [)
if SE will not make this as warranty for free i have an idea - lets make a PUBLIC RELEASE and send it to all the IT and other media, but before that we should send this to SE !
we have a lot of customers with this problem. i have had P 800 and there was display broken and service didnt replace it for free and it was NOT my fault !
i was naive so i bougt P 900 and if this broken frame will not go through warranty then this is MY LAST SE PHONE EVER !

It might actually be a good idea to send SE your grievances, if they receive enough complaints then they will have to take notice; nothing motivates large companies into action quicker than either a threat to their profits or bad publicity.

Mines just the same . . . . . (just to make all of u feel better who it hasn't happened to yet)
Yes it is a design flaw - no Sony won't do anything about it unless they receive lots of reports.
Someone find their email address for this sort of thing and we can all email them with images etc and get it fixed
