It leaves you with one question...

Does watching the movie on your phone to pass time, really compare to getting the DVD and watching at home or something? I dunno about you... but I prefer buying the DVD if I like the movie.

So in a way if you "preview" it and you like it, you buy it. Who wants to drop cash on a DVD, watch it and realize it is total sheeat' and a waste of money. I think it will make "Hollywood" more creative in making films. Instead of the garbage namely the cheesy remakes, sequels we have seen in the recent years. Yech

But that is just my opinion, you decide what you want. I do state that I do own every movie I have ever previewed and liked. As in purchasing the DVD.

have you not read the legal notices you get at the beginning of just about every DVD?

I was under the impression that the actual "fair uses" were for reviewing purposes (as in publishing small clips for review purposes) as well as for certain educational means - the only thing that you can "legally" copy is software, for backup purposes or to alter it for compatibility...

Further - as i have stated elsewhere - it is an oft misconstrued concept that someone who buys a DVD actually "owns" it... they do not, they simply purchase the right to use the material and cover distribution costs - thus they are not actually allowed to treat it as if it were effectively their own and therefore give it away or copy it time and time again...

If you had really gone to the effort to design, produce or otherwise create something, you may give the odd copy to your friends, but if you were after a profit or to even cover your original costs, you would have to start charging at some point... hence the media industry as it stands...

Whilst I do not endorse copyright theft (yep, thats what it is), it is partly understandable since some things are clearly a rip (something you only discover after purchase)... i do not think the average album should cost around a tenner - cd's are dirt cheap so the media is not the excuse... methinks though, that certain management organisations are a little greedy... why should I subsidise their excessive demands?

However, i would add that priacy can stifle competition (thus higher prices eventually) but more importantly, innovation will surely suffer as a result...

You makes yer choices, your pays yer price... or perhaps we all do?

The point is, if you get caught distributing illegal software/music/videos etc, in fairly large numbers, you'll be is serious trouble.

Sharing the odd file on Esato or Kazaa is one thing, but running an illegal website is a lot more likely to end up with the owner being prosecuted....

So true, BUT
Identifying a fool has always been a tough job and subjected to never-ending debates

That makes so much sense, but since you are so aware of the lack of consequences, why then do you not start a site?...

Many users escape action through their use of Kazaa since the files are not stored in one central location - if you start a website they probably will be - thus much easier to find...

And if you start something on Yahoo or whatever, there is a fair chance they will close it down... I believe that happened to another person who started something like that on there...

And "fools cannot be changed"... neither can narrow minded biggots, but people try ! Generally, I find it takes a fool to find one !
