Most hand held devices are drop tested to see what they will withstand. This is a requirement in order for that product to obtain some of the required approvals, also for the manufacturing company's QA.

SE's are quite robust - I've bought back from the dead a T610 that someone's dog had chewed up pretty badly - luckily the PCB was undamaged. I put a new screen, facia, and battery in it and it worked perfectly! Even sold it and broke even, even after all those parts were put on it

i've had:

Ericsson T18
Ericsson T28
Ericsson T29
SonyEricsson T68i
SonyEricsson P800
SonyEricsson P900

T29, T68i, and P900 have all had water damage! T29 was the only one that stop functioning properly, the screen is blank, the backlight comes up though.

Hi everybody,
I just joined today. The reason for joining is actually unfortunate:
Yesterday, as I was hiking with my P900 properly in its case on my belt, I got in a heavy spell of hail that lasted about 30 minutes. As I tried to run into shelter as quickly as I could, I didn't think about the phone, it WAS in its case after all.

But today I discovered that the keys on the flip keyboard don't work properly, e.g. when I press the '4' button, the '1' will be displayed, furthermore, the lowest button row '*, 0, #' are now displaying '7,8,9' (I hope this is inteligible), which also makes it impossible to unlock the keyboard unless I open the flip and use the stylus. Furthermore, the jogdial still scrolls up and down, but doesn't react to sorryd or inward press. All else including keyboard still works though.
Please if you have advice/similar experience let me know

I'm one of the new guys in here too...
UNFORTUNATELY my P900 had it's first dive in the toilet!!!Yeah it's true!I had it on my belt while I was standing above the toilet and when I put on my pants again it got off the belt and fell in...I didn't leave it for more than 2 seconds in the water, I exposed it to the sun for about 15-20 minutes and then I took it to a store so that they clean and dry it.B4v that the screen wouldn't show anything and the sound was blurry..After the store, the screen was "ok",the sound was ok and the buttons were ok too. The "" to the prementioned ok are because the screen looks like it contains water from inside, it's kinda annoying and today this has shrinked enough and it's not that bad.THE BAD news are that the INFRARED and the communication with the PC via USB are NOT WORKING! This means that NO pics, videos, sounds or ANYthing else can be transferred to or from the phone...

I don't get it.How can this have happened?everything working fine BUT the infrared and the DSS-25...
WHAT AM I GONNA DO??!!

I was bluejacked recently and being the curious type I opened the message only to discover it contained a picture of Westlife!!! I deleted the pic and message as quickly as possible so as to avoid any perminent damage/humiliation to my P900. Since then the phone has worked fine although it does break out into cold sweats when West Life are played on the radio:)

My P900 felt in a swimming pool. It was dead for 2 days. I waited for the phone to be real dry but still nothing.

Went to a repair store and I explained my problem. The guy handed me out a new battery.

Luckily the phone did light up. Everything is working fine. Battery was dead!!

I would never expect my phone to work after a deep dive in a swimming pool.

Great phone;

I was at a party on the beach in wales last wkend when the riot police stormed over because they over estimated the party to be an illegal rave, threw some of the sound equipment down a hill onto rocks even randomly cs gassing 10 yr old kids and beating innocent bystanders.
I got out the P900 and started to video the corrupt bent barstards that are NORTH WALES POLICE FORCE and one of them came at me, grabbed my phone and tried to smash it. i struggled with him and got back my beloved p900 in one piece but a few other people had there video evidence of all this sickening badness stolen by the pigs as they were forced off the site. Some people got away safely with there video cams so i can only hope the footage will be used in court to help the others get compensation. the police will not get away with this! We pay taxes for them to protect us not steal from and beat us.

ps. the stylus got a little bent at the end but the phone otherwise survived police brutality quite well (",)
