I have owned T18, R320, R520, T39, T310 and have NEVER experienced any serious problems with those phones. I bought most of them immidiately after release, too...
I ahve noticed that many of my Nokia-owning friends have had software problems, the soft being more or less of pre-release quality. Not even mentioning the text on buttons and case colour coming off after some months of use...never lost any paint from my Ericssons...I'm not a die-hard SE fan, just noticing the difference in quality...happy that the K700 finally did away with the tedious sms-sending procedure of SE

imho, nokia is putting more money in making for stable and simple software for their phones. They actually think about them as phones, with the primarily purpose of calling other people
As for SE, they think to them as little techological thingies, that can browse internet, and you can listen to music with them. That's what's wrong with SE.

Unfortunately, the market and the owners more or less demands the manufacturers to develop and release new phone models all the time and all too often. As a result, and as a major drawback for the customers, the quality is not at all as good as one should expect.
Conclusion: If it works, it's good enough. If it works without problems, it's a mere bonus.

i think youve hit the nail on the head. nokia release the 6230 onto the market to get the jump on similar phones ie motorola and se k700.
it has problems (now fixed)
se then rush the k700 out as they fear nokia will nick a load of market share and its has bugs (now fixed)
i guess its cheaper for them to get the phone out and fix bugs later if people complain.
i would guess this is something were gonna have to put up with

The firmware is possible to upgrade as needed, preferably over the internet and by the end users themselves.
And, as has been mentioned before here at Esato, it's most likely the phone freaks that encounters the major problems, not the big masses. That means that most end users will probably never find any problems with their phones whatsoever. And, in the end, that's what really counts when money rules.

My first SE was a T230.Had a hell lot of problems with it.Now I have a Nokia 3100 but u wont believe I am going to switch back to SE, bcos it has more personality cool features and makes u stand out in a crowd

CHANGE IT?? thats not the alternative.. the right method is to get it repaired.. chaging a pc everytime u get an error .. do u have a pocket that big. its the same for mobiles.. but 1 thing that i have done a little bit of research about.. dont know weather applies to u all but it did for me.. the time THESE Color screen mobiles came.. and the greater the functionality of the mobile became.. The number of bugs and viruses INCREASED INCREASED AND INCREASED.. cuz i tested my A2618s by Ericsson.. oh my.. it fell in a bucket full of water.. Battery soaked.. took up a screw driver my self opened it.. and went to the terrace and spread it like clothes on a lining.. the fone dried up like the washings and Excellent. works as good as new.. the fone Fell from the terrace once when i was speaking to my friend.. Battery , Mobile Cover, and mobile.. and 3 were separated approx.. more then 10 meters each.. took it.. Fixed em like a puzzle and their u go.. A brand new A2618s.. i never even heard of Bugs and Updates and hangs and stuff like that b4 the T68.. when my bro took it.. Software upgrades.. and Bugs.. and slow sms.. THE SIMPLE IT IS.. the better it works.. THat are wt we call classics.. Bang a A2618 only 50 dollars. in 2001 that was.. and ur p900 550 dollars.. and bet me the A2618 wud still work.. the summary is.. CLassics are classics.. the more we increase our expectations with mobiles.. and want its functionalites increased.. THe more they hang.. freeze.. so guys every1 sell ur fones.. and lets all again buy the first fone that was made by ericsson.. Simply Basic..
