and sometimes a song sounds great on one phone and not that good on the other, this should be a component problem, are all T610 & T630 assembled in Malaysia? mine is 04W21...

Just get a Midi Composer and find out which instruments play loud on the T610 (most high pitched do)
Then compose one with those instruments
Or more preferably change a phone melody from the original instruments to the instruments you found.

I have composed a couple of songs on DJ and they're pretty loud, so maybe it's just because of the instruments, that could be the key point.

I had my T610 for more than 2 years already. At first, I found the ring tones to be on the soft side, but later on, I found that it was something to do with your type of ring tones rather than the phone's problem.
Recently, I downloaded k700's ring tone (higher sense) to my T610 and the ring tone sound pretty loud. But generally, all poly ring tones are like that.
