I have2agree with both sides. On 1hand,u cant compare 'em-the p900 is a smartph with Symbian which makes it better. On the other hand,i for one, don't need it although i am a gadgeteer:-D The price doesnt justify. If some1 wants 'almost a p900' he's better off with a Motorola. With the p910 SE follows the same path cuz they saw ppl ready2pay the price. Why change that? And in my opinion, they r dirhonest. Not loyal to their customers but ready2take the shits of their backs. I w8 4the s700@max 500euro.

The jog dial is a great navigation tool, was great on my CMD-Z7, it rocked on my p800, and it still rocks on my p900! A very useful thing.

I choose the E398 for specific reasons. I could have chosen other phones, but this one stood out. I still emphasize the fact that once you really use this phone, you realize how advanced it is . It looks and works a lot better than it appears in the commerials.
Also, regarding touch screens, check philips which is coming with a dozen phones with touch screens (http://www.mobile-review.com/phonemodels/philips/philips-759-en.shtml). So, it does not look that its a big deal to get touch screens into cell phones thesedays.

You are comparing two phones that exist in two completely different classes. And because they are in two different classes, they of course have differing price tags.
The E398 is a mid-range cell phone only, and has a price tag to match.
The P900 is a high-end business class phone/PDA, running a highly configurable, upgradable and programmable Symbian operating system, featuring a rather large 208x320 pixel, 65k color, TFT active matrix touch-screen, "potentially" unlimited memory (ie: limited only by the amount of memory cards you can afford), and has a price tag to match.
As some has already pointed out, you should be comparing the E398 to something like SE's K700i or S700, not the P900. Then, and only then, you can make a fair price comparison. You are not comparing apples with apples here, and that's where your argument fails, and thus loses all credibility.
Obviously the E398 satisfies your needs, and that is your suited range of phone. So acknowledging that, the P900 is way above your class in both price and function, so why on Earth do you even own one, and why do you care what it's price is?
You're the type of person who'll buy multi-function, "100-tools-in-one", Swiss Army knife, just to use as a bottle opener.
I have a P900 because I use and need each and every function it has to offer. I'd buy an E398 for my girlfriend, so she has a toy to play with.
Btw, let us know how long that rubber finish lasts on your E398. Nokia tried that once a few years ago with their 8210 series; it lasted about a month before the rubber started wearing down and scratching off, exposing the dull plastic underneath.

What rubber finish are you talking about?. I am unable to see your point.
And as for your bottle opener example, give me one solid example of something you do on your P900 which you cant do on th E398. Dont come up with the usual suspects (i.e, touch screen, installing APPS etc ..).. I have emphasized earlier, its not about the capabilities of the phone, its about how much the same technlogy costs in other handsets and have give enough examples to prove my point.
When I got the P900, I was looking at the Camera, the MP3 player, support for extra memory, GPRS, Bluetooth, browser, PC connectivity, MMS. Touch screen was just something extra, not something I cant do without. Now, all this is in the E398 and at 1/3rd the price and half the size. And the P900 comes with its own problems - buy screen protectors, buy card readers/writers, buy headphone converters, buy BT dongles, buy panels incase the flip breaks the cover!...
Remember Ignorance is not always bliss.... you have to accept the fact. SE is definitely costly when it comes to the technoligies it packs inside the P900.

Have you held this phone yet? Or read any reviews?
The E398 has a very thin "rubber-like" coating on it's plastic casing, giving it a soft satin-like feel. It's the same finish that was on Nokia's 8210 stock-original blue case.
This finish makes the phone feel rather nice, but has a tendency to wear out and scratch off very quickly. Thankfully the E398 is black, so it won't be too noticeable at a glance. The Nokia's blue finish, when worn off, exposed the black plastic underneath. In time it looked terrible.
But that's the least of the many valid points I made.

How about viewing Html web pages?
I agree that the P900 (and P910) are over priced but can you blame

for that? People seem willing to pay that price and will continue to until a real competitor comes close (Nokia 9500?)

I dont think Nokia 9500 will be cheaper either. Only Motorola has the guts to produce technology at remarkably low costs.

Well, not able to view html in e-mails in the P900 is ridiculos enough, so even the P900 did not give html support in its entirity. I have not checked if HTML can be viewed on the E398 though, maybe not.
