I must say when I read the details I also thought at first that the phone could serve as mp3-player. Only after further reading it is clear that it is very limited and that the phone won't replace your seperate mp3player. So I agree that the information is somewhat misleading.
On the other hand I agree also that a phone will never replace a "sand alone" mp3player. I am favourable of the one device, one function idea (that is why I appreciate the T600 so much) but then we have to leave the camera's out too.
And please, phone-addicts, do not call a phone of €200 a budget phone. The T100 and the T230 can be called budget phones. That are the only budget phones SE has. All the other phones range from expensive to very expensive.
That said I agree that the k500 is a stripped k700. SE really needed a phone in that price range.
On the other hand the T630 and especially the t610 will look very cheap next to the k500, costing €219 and €179 respectively. They do have BT but no mp3 ringtones. And hom much MB did they have?

Most of us think of it as budget-middle class which justifies the price&features.

You've too see what other options are open at the same price. I'll never go for this because better things are available for same or less

why not do as my neighbour...
since there isn't much quality in most mp3-player headphones - he lowered the quality of the mp3 songs to save space.
He didn't notice any difference while he was using ordinary headphones

but with a 200pound K700i from ebay...can you get FOC product support in Europe?
I am not sure how strict they are in getting phone from grey market or not from the country your stay.
In asia...we always have to pay for firmware upgrade when we get grey market phone or phone from ebay/expansys etc...since their warranty no cover by local SE.

Valentiner: Heh nothing can be compared to my Creative Rhomba!
vanquish: Buy a real mp3 player... there is no reason to complain about the memory.. I have K700 and i have used 6mb for both sounds and video. Get a sound converter and convert to mp4 (preferably) and 48kbits after cropping the part of the song you want to play..

The first seller for Belgium has the K500i in his catalogue for €341,95.
That is a lot of money for this phone. Only €30 less than the k700i.
