You don't need to fully discharge your phone battery b4 recharging, that only applies 2 NiCad batteries. In fact i plug my phone in every night regardless of it's state of charge, but that just a habit from when i had a t28 which had a pathetic standby time :-D

i heard putting it overnight is very bad... u shud plug it in only for a maximum of 4 hours... and is the charge is warm, it means it is charging and afterwards when it is relatively at a lower temp it means 'not charging'...

I don't worry to much about overheating, as i live in wales and it's dead cold here most of the time ;-) . Besides, if overheating was a big problem there would be big warnings on the phone and charger about it.

I believe the reason you're supposed to fully charge a battery when it's new is because older batteries used to get "battery memory syndrome", which means that if you were to charge it half-way and then unplug it, the next time you charged it the most it would be able to charge is half way or maybe a bit more. If you charged it a half-hour out of the box and unplugged it, it might show that the battery is fully charged but would not last nearly as long plus it would get a "memory". The old batteries also had problems if you charged them before they went completely dead, or used them before they were completely charged. That said, most new batteries either do not have this problem or it has minimal effect, but you probably ought to give it a full charge when it's new just to be safe.

thats what i keep getting told about im leaving it in till about 9ish anyways

Conor firstly to ur other thread id knew ud get ur phone today lol :-) bout ur battery i guess it had some charge in it beforehand thats why after 30mins its nearly done :-) just leave it for 4hrs or leave it overnight!

Try this: charge 6 days long in on mode, but only so long its full and once in a week in off mode all night long. Do it weekly.

Yes, i think a routine like that might help. But, the life cycle of most batteries (of any type ) does not exceed more than a few years. And you can get marginal benefits in that period by very very strictly following charging discharging procedures!
