going the way of nokia seems to be the in-thing. look at moto, siemens and samsung.
if u hv similar phones in different models, it is an extension of the exchangable cover ==> u appeal to many different tastes.
if u release one (e.g K700), SE would lose those customers who don't like the techno-crap design of K700.
i think in this case, it is better to follow the crowd. Look at what happen to Betamax standard when Sony did not follow the crowd. Those who adopted VHS seen their sales soar whereas Sony's sales fell like a rock.

Well nokia is the leading mobile phone company so its no suprise that other companies would want to follow them.

In an se fone u find more features then in 5 nokias together. Got your point that everybody need or dont need features, but "just to" release a fone cos its lets say monday and the week has to start with a new nokia, is pointless for me.

I agree with boba in the sense that phones should not be released in large volumes close to each other with similar features, they should be spaced out, and different products, with new technologies.
This is the ideal, but, this IMO doesn't tend to apply to business, they need to make a profit, and a technique for that, is to release many phones, that the die-hards will buy, most, if not all of(I'm looking at you masseur!). But that the regular consumer will have something amongst this sea of produucts that they want.
Like I said it's my opinion, so this 'shift' towards Nokia style techniques that's being spoken of, is most likely just business technique being executed by

Currently all SE's phone lineup is still overseeable. Nokia's is not. Nokia is reaching critical mass soon. too many phones confusing consumers.

considerign their stake in symbian that is only logical.
Personally I do not see the fuss about releasing new, only slightly updated models every so many months. wanna know why? Because it's how

makes money.
There may be a large number of esato members fcurrentlyu owning a K700 or P900 (delete as applicable) and not happy to see 'only' an S700 or P910 (delete as applicable) as the newer model, but perhaps we all need to remember that esato members are but a tiny part of the total market for
There are plenty of people out there that go Nokia -> S700 or T610 -> S700 or Nec -> P910 or any other combination.
Just because a small group of die hard fans has purchased a product, does not mean the company should stop making the product, aimed at others than that small group of die hard fans.
I do agree with the pentium comment earlier. Technology moves, it moves fast, and to assume that one's phone is to be the latest on the block till the new revolution arrives is rather silly and not very business-minded.
If esato users and or phone-geeks (delete as applicable) were the only market for

they'd be bankrupt by now. The company perspectiev is quite a bit broader, perhaps ours should be too.
