@john-se
The S700 can use a MP3 as a ringtone, except for Vodafone branded models, although there is a way around this limitation.

My S next to Laffen's K
The screens differ a lot!
The S700 has a real WOW!!!-factor to it whilst the K700 has a OK...-factor to it.
I've had most

and Ericsson phones that has been on the market and never been this impressed with a screen ever.

While S700 got the best screen from SE, and probably one of the best on the market, it falls so much shrt of being really great.
Compare S700 screen to a GX30, or a newer model GX25 from Sharp, it's astonishing the difference. The Sharp screen wins hands down. S700 looks like a T610 sitting next to the GX25.
The colour rendition in the GX are a lot better too. I have some pictures with visible colour banding (looks liek 65K rather than 262K!) while on GX25 it's smooth gradiation.
No one comes close to SHARP for LCD technology currently.
Shame...

I've seen one in Sharp GX32.. yeah, Sharp is a lot better.. but actually, I forgot about how good Sharp's display is..
anyway, gonna buy S700i tomorrow.
and gonna sell off my K700i ASAP.

Correct me if I am wrong (which I am sure I'm not) but apparently the difference between a 65k screen and a 262k screen is not viewable. It is the resolution that makes the screen look better and the brightness/contrast. I bet if you ask SE they will tell you the phone only uses the 262k colours when taking pictures, I don't know of any phone that utilises the 262k colours for menu screens and the like as you cannot see the difference unless you are a cyborg!
The whole point of having a 262k screen is so the camera picture has a higher colour resolution. I guarantee if you had two phones, same resolution but one with a 65k screen and one with a 262k screen you would not be able to tell the difference.
Try it on your PC, set your display settings colours to 16 bit, then set them to 32 bit. You will not see a difference.
There, I hope the colour myth is now quashed!

I guess you must have not so good eyes, because the difference between 16 and 32 bit color is really obvious once you have a picture with gradient fills, like a clear sky or whatever: the 16 bit screen will show heavy banding where the 32 bit will show smooth gradients.
Not convinced? Take your painting program, fill a page with a b/w linear gradient and look at it at 16 bit and at 32 bit color res.

I guarantee the phone menus will not use the 262k colours. Gradients are another matter, only using these or running colour intensive programs such as games and 3d modeling software will you notice a difference, the colour depth is essentially the same (16.7 million) just displayed in a different bit, whereas the same bit applies to both the k700 and s700.
If you read tech specs on such devices (this includes PDA's, phones, mp3 players) they will always say screen displays up to 262k colours, which for a phone usually means only in camera mode.
The important factor in the better display of the s700 screen is the resolution, not the colour depth (expect pics).
T610 - 65k screen
k700 - 65k screen
Resolution is what sets the screens apart and will for a long time to come!

I was mainly criticizing what you said about making tests with your PC screen.
What is true is that because of the 65k limitations, phone menus or backgrounds do not use gradients, just to avoid banding. But with the new 262k or 16M screens, gradients are now useable and will be used.
Now, I agree with you that spatial res is an as important factor as the color res. But the highest the spatial res, the highest the color res must be to avoid banding. And having high color res for menus is not important. It adds nothing to the useability of the menu, only to the design.
