I'm afraid not, when I turn my phone on silent I still have the camera sound even if I put it on meeting profile or emptied the volume bar in sounds it still makes the noise. So far the only way to get a silent shot that i've found is to make a phone call and take a picture during the call. But thats just stupid to make a phone call just to get a silent shot.
Ohwell noisy pictures it is then..

I guess you haven't read the many (many) K700 threads on the same subject where the sound cannot be turned off?

The reason this happens is because perverts take pictures of girls (huge pet peeve of mine)

Now there isn't even an option for silent pictures, because of these idiots who think taking pictures up girls' skirts is fun or something.

so they make it impossible to turn off the camera sound because of 0.00000001% of the population?!

find that hard to believe because in all nokia phones you can turn the shutter sound off.

I’ve tried all this as well, but to no avail… just got a s700 after using a p800 for the last few years.

The two things I don’t like about the s700 are:
1: Vodkafone branded software (really annoying, limiting what you can do with the phone… soon to be sorted though, I have an un-branding kit on the way)
2: Silent mode doesn’t mean silent….
If I have the phone on silent I done want it to make any noise at all, weather it is camera, movies etc…

But I do like the look and feel of the phone and cant wait to get my sim activated and software unbranded…

@nlhall

To be fair, the Vodafone branding isn't a fault with the product per se, rather it is more of a Vodafone problem. Ironically the Japanese put great stock in branding so I am told.

When I choose the profile "meeting" there is no camerasound. It is totally silent.
