As so many people ask about and deal with eBay for their phone purchases, perhaps we ought to make this a sticky for others to add their experiencies and dealings.
It's so easy to get burnt but conversely, there are damn good deals out there as well. Unfortunately, the scammers get better and better with duping the general public. An example is the "Brand New Phone" etc etc and the link for £20 in small writing at the bottom of the very long description. Looking at the sheer number of these and the fact that there can't be that many websites providing these phones, the list for the phones must be awfully long ie I saw one that had 156 people waiting for a P900! The P2000 would be out before they received theirs.....

I paid 719 USD on eBay for my P910i, factory unlocked, new unopened box....everything was perfect. The biggest advice I will say is to make sure the seller has been selling the item you're buying for a while and good feedback. Also only buy from people who have the PayPal Buyer Protection and make sure it is listed off to the right and not in their description somewhere (like they put it in themselves) I used Buy It Now and got it for 719 which I thought was an alright deal...shipping was a bit high at 45 USD but worth it...I got a tracking number and good response from the seller. Here's a link to my own auction in case someone here is interested or knows someone who wants a P910i....I had no problems at all with this seller (owned my phone for a whole 4 days now) It's the best toy I've bought in probably 3 years.

and to clarify, this phone didn't come with a SIM card but I bought one of those (my old one was stolen along with my last phone) for 26 USD
