> k500i vs k700i speaker

From what I heard, Sony Ericsson found a malfunction in the K700i moments before they were to showcase it at some public event, basically the K700i originally had a lens shutter, but when it was closed the speaker could not be heard clearly, so to make a quick fix they removed the lens shutter to create a curved opening for the speaker to be heard. Thats why the opening for the speaker of the K700i looks like the shape of the lens protector on the K500i. I believe this is true b/c business wise SE would lose a ton trying to go back and correct their mistake, since they already produced so many K700i's ready for sale. So the next logical step is to simply remove the lens shutter for all K700i's. Now the downside is we get the short end of the stick in terms of speaker performance, the opening is not positioned correctly over the speakerphone of the K700i so this results in lightly muffled output. Try listening to the the text message rings, especially the first one, its suppose to be very high pitched but its not b/c of the speaker positioning. I just thought you'd like to know this info since you are very interested in the speaker performance of the K700 compared to the K500i. The k500 is much better speakerwise. have a nice day

I thought they were basically the same in terms of sound playback quality, after all they practically have the same sound circuitry.
I'd go for the K700i. It may be a bit more expensive but it has more value for your money.
