had just upgraded to R3A firmware. This is not something new as many had already done so. But I would like to share a few notes that others might find useful.

1. backup your phone before update
- to speed up backup, detach the MSDuo (or backup phone only). The MSDuo doesn't change anyway during the update

2. after update, SE advices at least 5mins before you start restoring
- SE advices at least 5mins, but it didnt work on mine. I rebooted both PC and phone several times and still restore fails but backup (new) and sync works. To fix this, try to install (or reinstall to some) your PCSuite to the latest version. Mine installed 3.1.1 over 3.0.0. After that, the restore works!

3. choosing language after update
- In my case, I am to choose between 3 languages (UK, US, and something Im not familiar to). Note that choosing UK or US both gives you English. So far the difference I noted between UK & US is that pressing keypad # or 1 gives a space under US. Under UK only the # key gives a space.

4. full charge or charge will on cradle
- make sure your phone is fully charge during update/restore, if you run out of battery while updating/restoring... pray I suggest you plug in your charger to back of cradle so your phone will be on charge while plugged into the cradle.

I thought the battery couldn't charge whilst the SEUS is updating??

I wonder what you think to this, maybe nothing at all, my P910i which was recently flashed and unbranded to a generic P910i from Vodafone states on the system information: CDA162005/6 R3A04 ! "And ?" I hear you ask, exactly, I have not seen the /6 mentioned yet and was wondering if anyone else has the same on their phone and if so, how is their phone performing as mine is lightning fast, a hell of a lot faster than my P900, and totally reliable. Thank you.

Just got mine upgraded from R1A30 to R3A17. First impressions, everything seems to be a lot faster than before. Can't really see anything different apart from that. The upgrading process was smooth all the way, about 20 odd minutes to complete the whole thing. The restoration took a little while longer, but was well worth the time taken.

@dave_uk

During the whole backup/update/restore process, i think only the "updating" portion where the batt is not charge. The rest including downloading of the SEUS/firmware, backup & restoring part i think the batt is charging.

@rockabillydoghandler
mine is /6 and I didn't notice it to be faster. Bought my unit open line/unbranded from start

Mine is on R1A30. It's a Voda banded UK phone and I can't update it as it says for my CDA that is the latest firmware.

is this due to being on Voda? Was never a problem with my P900
