If the Duo can still be read by your PC, then you didn't kill it.
Damage to the card can only happen due to electrical surges... if you pull out the card while the PC or your phone is still accessing data on it... it may get damaged... but highly unlikely... the data may become corrupt... but the card will most likely still be working.
If after formatting the Duo from your PHONE, and it still doesn't work... try another Duo (the one that came with your phone) if that works... then it may be a defective Duo... if that doesn't work, it may be a damaged card slot. (Rare occasions... one of the teeth may not be making contact with the card)

... but people started misquoting what I said and that annoyed me... it's in the manual...PAGE 23! (At least in the English manual)
the phone will NOT recognize the Duo until it is formatted. I'm sure you all have experienced the same thing when installing a new hard drive in windows... the drive isn't accessible until it is formatted right? Even Windows states that.
How difficult is it to go to the Control Panel of the phone... click Other, then click Format Disk?!?!
Why is everyone insisting that FAT16 on Windows is the same as the FAT16 on the phone??? So what if it is?!??! If formatting under Windows doesn't work... then DUH... format it using the phone... LIKE THE MANUAL SAYS YOU SHOULD before you can use the Duo.

To be honest, I think I've only ever formatted one out of the 6(?) different Duos I've used on my P800, P900 and P910i, so one could be forgiven for not realising that it needs to be formatted before use. Do some of them come pre-formatted or something?

I fully understand (and I'm sure PK does as well) how to format a Duo using the phone, but the whole point is that he is unable to do it because, having formatted it in FAT32, the phone won't recognise the presence of the card at all (at least that is what I have understood to be the case).
I don't think it's really case of something obvious being overlooked.
But anyway, no harm done - it's the weekend!!

PK could've formatted it using NTFS for all the phone cares... the point is... if formatting the Duo using the phone doesn't make it work... then 2 things:
1) Defective Duo
2) Defective P910 slot
If another Duo works in the P910... then rule out #2 leaving you with
1) Defective Duo
It's pointless for everyone to keep guessing and insisting that it SHOULD work... PK said it doesn't...period. Until he tries formatting it using the phone (just stick the card in, go to Control Panel, Other, Format Disk) ... we can all just keep guessing til the cows come home... or til Sony launches a 2GB Pro Duo.
