Same issue here. Opera stopped working but the internal internet browser works. I can access email but some of the other services like update on worldmate etc. don't work. (connection error).

very strange. I hope there is a solution soon.

The solution is already here. Get full internet plan and it will work.

i believe T-Mobile wants every who has $4.99 t-zones to upgrade to $9.99 plan. well, i am not willing to pay $5 more to my already $55/monthly.

i think it's shitty of them to turn off port 80 without notifying customers - we had to find out the hard way.

this doesn't make sense though because my gprs was working perfectly fine with opera and internal in the afternoon when i posted it, now i come back at night plop in my bed and bam opera is messed up again. lol i think this is part of t-mo's evil plan, give us brief access to full internet to see what we're missing, kinda to tease us

When you say the full internet plan are you talking about the $19.99 plan? There is no way I am paying 20 dollars to have the ability to get updated weather.

I've got the same problems. My problems began about December 4th.

T-mobile in Houston, TX

regular T-zones (I only pay $2.99, b/c I was grandfathered in)

Internal browser works fine, but Opera gets nothing but errors.

This really sux! I really liked Opera because I could view email attachments using my webmail with Earthlink and a very Java heavy websites, but now all I can view is text using the crappy T-zones. I also used it as a backup to surf at home via Bluetooth whenever cable modem went down, which lately has been way too often.

My unlimited GPRS internet costs $29.99 / month!!!! No way, am I going to pay that for as little as I use it. *SIGH*

I'd certainly love to see someone figure a way around this problem, but it looks like there isn't a solution.

@hookem.horns,

yes, unfortunately t-mobile's latest changes have caused alot of inconveniences for everyone. namely turning off port 80 for t-zones ($4.99 or $2.99), thus causing Opera inoperable.

secondly, the international SMS now costs $0.15 each. i was using the smsbug application to send int'l SMS for $0.07 each from my P900. now that t-mobile turns off port 80, i can't use this application any more. that sucks too!!

too bad, there aren't enough carriers out there for GSM phones beside cingular whose service i am not too fond of either, otherwise i would boycott t-mobile in a heartbeat.

i had the $2.99 plan once with internet access, MMS & 300 SMS, but they refused to let me grandfather the plan. i just think they are not too flexible with their existing customers.

hmm... i just tried POP3 mail, and it failed. It tries to connect for 20 seconds or so and it goes disconnect.

Can anyone please verify if this is one of the things T-Mobile disabled for $4.99 T-Zones?

my pop3 still works perfectly though
im going to try tommorow a little someting I tried back in the days when my whole school "shut down" the internet but i found a way around it (i couldn't explain how) to use the internet using a proxy (its a long shot but someone has to try it)
hopefully if this works we'll all have our precious port 80 back
