Bookmark topic
I am having same probs too. I tred to sign up to O2 the other which took ages as the 'thank you for registering' screen never appeared so i now have about 5 user names with O2.
I received about 20-30 of the mobile verifications codes too which I can't use because apparently my details are not on the system or something but I have 5 emails to prove i registered!!!
All I can say is good mobile service (I'm on O2).....crap internet service so far! Sort it out!!!!

I've had this problem to!
The T68i takes longer than normal to acknowedge a text message. O2 must have set up their SMSC's to wait a shorter time than required (maybe just for the online text service?).
I tried complaining and got no-where, they told me to call a premium rate number for internet help although I'm not a genie customer and never sent a message myself, just got spammed by them.
If you've had this problem complain to oftel at
http://www.oftel.co.uk/consumer/advice/contact_us/index.htm this should sort out O2 ... Good luck

you are all assuming it is just o2 issue, but i and three of my friends get this on orange, one is a vodafone engineer and gets it on voda too. So.....how is this o2 fault just because you happen to all subscribe to o2 alerts or use the 100 free text service?

I got the same message over 100 times, the message came every 15-30 minute.. i even got the same message when i came back to sweden.. i got the last sms from BTCellNet/o2 for 4 days ago.

Hi ya all,
Basically I went onto the O2 website on 24/6/02 and sent myself a test message using their free txt service. Well since then I have been receiving the same test message several times a day and nite, up until today. On contacting O2, they informed me that there is a fault with the T68i, which does not confirm that it has received a SMS message like all phones should. This lets the sending site know and hence no more repeat messages.

I always recieve stock alerts from o2, that is about six everyday i tried stopping it but it still comes everytime and i dont use it for anything, but o2 i guess they are up to something, because by August they will start charging customers for alerts recieved and you know what that means.

heres an answer from Ericsson on the matter.
as everyone thought, they are aware of the problem but not in the way everyone thought
to quote the email i got from them
'Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson.
With regards to your recent enquiry, the fault you describe is network related not the T68i. The handset has been fully tested on all networks and this problem has only occured with O2.
Please contact us again if we can be of further assistance and visit our website at
www.sonyericsson.com for more information and support on our products.
Kind Regards.

'
so as most of us knew already, o2 are at fault here.
I am still on the case everyday or so and will be until they give a satisfactory answer.
more news as I get it

more new news !
but I've also got an updated from o2/cellnet now.
so I've added both of the replies I got from both companies.
heres the ericsson statement (of Ericsson denying the fault and blaming o2)
'With regards to your recent enquiry, the fault you describe is network related not the T68i. The handset has been fully tested on all networks and this problem has only occured with O2.'
and heres the o2/cellnet one I got today (of o2/cellnet admitting a network fault and saying they are fixing it
to quote part of the email I got from o2/cellnet
'The problem of multiple SMSs are being sent from the BT Cellnet network and BT Cellnet are aware of this and are working actively for a resolution. It should be noted that this is not a problem with O2 platform. '
It wont be left alone until they inform me that its being fixed. I'll get it chased up every few days..
Hope this helps everybody.
just shows if you call normal customer services then you get fobbed off, if you know people then you dont
more info as I get it..

I had the same problem on O2.
I have email alerts sent from my Orange.net account to the T68I on O2.
Today I put my Virgin sim card in the T68i and had my emails diverted to the phone.
The Problem still exists, I get multiple alerts for the same email.
I think the problem is with the phone and not the network as up till now it was only on O2.
Today the problem exists on the Virgin card as well.
I blame the phone. Anyone know if the latest software solves the problem? (I am using R2B025)
